The movie really progresses slowly at the beginning, but then, in the end, it gives you so much information that it nearly makes you forget that it was boring as hell until then. The ending part was really unnecessary, and I don't know if it's in the book or not, but it was stupid, too sudden and too stupidly done.

A clever and elegant film up until the end, where the movie basically shits all over itself and turns into a giant stinkpile, unravelling everything it set up so carefully before.

Completely agree. One of the most intriguing and atmospheric thrillers in recent years almost totally undone by, well, one of the most utterly ridiculous endings in recent years.

a decent film with very good, tense scenes in it. Very atmospheric, Desplat and Polanski makes an excellent team. I completely adored the car chase/ferry escape, the note passing and the very last shot, amazing.

Wow, I LOVED this movie. I think it is the best movie I've seen so far this year. Like, it was 1 in the morning when I started watching it and I was almost falling asleep and then the film starts and my sleepiness disappears. Loved McGregor in it and the soundtrack was brilliant. It is a very... moody film, really nicely shot. And yeah, the ending is wtf. Way too sudden.
