Founder / Operator Shawn Robbins Posted January 25, 2012 Founder / Operator Share Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) I'd say EL&IC's nomination is infinitely more laughable than War Horse's. Granted, I haven't seen the former...but there's been zero indication that should have been. No prior awards and a rotten RT score. Its amazing how that film gets nominated when the likes of 50/50, DH2, 500 Days of Summer, TDK, and Star Trek don't. But, its the Academy...so its not that shocking anymore. CoolioD1
It is true that in ten years when all those Best Picture nominees have been forgotten Drive will be having Fight Club-esque cult status.

Definitely, I just haven't seen EL&IC yet. To be honest, I'm not even sure I'm going to bother seeing that one. And hell, I even liked War Horse. It's a good old-fashioned flick set in a more innocent time period.......there's just no way it's one of the best of the year, IMO.
Noctis
I enjoyed War Horse a lot - and the last fifteen minutes were shockingly emotional, so I don't mind it being nominated at all. It wouldn't make MY list because I thought the first hour and a half was too slow.
Founder / Operator Shawn Robbins Posted January 25, 2012 Founder / Operator Share Posted January 25, 2012 I tend to agree. I enjoyed War Horse immensely, and the final half hour was some of Spielberg's best work ever IMO. Yet, it still didn't quite make my list of favorite movies for the year in my article. I think it just starts a bit sluggish for me, but I'll definitely watch it again on Blu-Ray. The supporting cast was freakin' excellent, though.
