[The Stingray]

Like Hatebox mentioned in the Mulholland Dr. thread, Lost Highway is a great companion piece to MD. However, though I liked it quite a lot I do not think it is in the same league as MD. The first half hour or so is amazing stuff, but I did not respond the same way to the rest of the movie. This could be due to my love for horror, cause the first 30 min is pure horror movie through and through. The sound design? is brilliant, and Bill Pullman's conversation with that f**ked up albino at the party is one of the creepiest scenes I have ever seen. The movie was also harder for me to wrap my head around than Mulholland Dr., but it did take me two viewings to kind of "get" that one, so maybe I'll get a better grasp of this one as well if I decide revisit it further down the road.

PS: Remind me to never tailgate someone ever again. Especially if the guy in front of you is Frank Lopez.

Haunting and mind bending. This and Mulholland Drive could be companion pieces even though i prefer the latter.

The Baltazhar Getty stuff is poison, loved the first 30 minutes and I wish the rest of the movie had been like that. Lots of gratuitous Patricia Arquette boobage. Overall a disappointment.

Saw it for the second time today and became even more convinced it's pretty brilliant. Love the Moebius' band structure, the mood, the soundtrack and the way (almost) all of it snaps right into place in the final 20 minutes. And, at the risk of sounding controversial, Patricia Arquette is jaw-droppingly gorgeous in this.
