Yeah, but Academy voters don't necessarily vote the way you think they do. Sometimes they think, who's a big star/well respected person who has a movie this year. Then they vote for them. There is quite a bit of blind voting going on. So, some voters might've chosen to rewards Hanks for Banks and others for Phillips.

 

Maybe, but actors have been double nomed before.

Very, very rarely. I mean extremely rarely. Having it happen in the past does not mean that it's the norm. In fact it is the absolute opposite of normal.

This yeah, I actually agree. Dench is oh so amazing in my favourite female performance of the year and I don't say that lightly.

Croods getting a nom and MU being snubed? that's bullshit, highest level of bullshit. I didn't even like MU.

That category is weak this year. I liked Lone Ranger more than most but the effects work on the trains and stuff wasn't anything to scream baout. And even though I knew Iron Man 3 was happening it's still such "been there done that" work.

have you seen TLR making of? the effects (apart from some obvious misteps) looked so damn real that we didn't even notice them.

10 noms for Gravity ? God, suddenly I have no faith in humanity. 3D tricks fooled ya all ? Pathetic world, pathetic sheeps.

IKR? It deserved at least 12

 

I honestly had a feeling AH could repeat SLP's 4 acting noms feat from last year, but I just didn't think Adams would be responsible for the most undeserved snub (Thompson). Moral of the story: if you want an acting nom today be in an 'O Russell film.

 

I think Meryl's more to blame than Adams on the atrocious GODDESS EMMA snub. On that note, this is exactly why I want Jim Carrey to be in DOR's next movie.

 

Also glad Captain Phillips got shut out of director and actor. Alexander Payne and Leo/Bale were far better choices over Greengrass and Hanks.

Yeah, but it's animated. They never nominate anything genuinely good from the mainstream. I mean the only really good film nominated this year in that category is Ernest and Celestine. DM2 and Frozen are tolerable. I didn't really like Miyaziki. And Croods, well yeah.... It's still better than a lot of the shit that's been nommed there and some of their winners. They should honestly get rid of this category along with song.

I haven't heard since I saw DM2. I try to repress that movie tbh

The camera in MoS didn't keep still long enough to appreciate the effects.

 

Anyway, Pacific Rim destroys both of those films effects and quality wise.

I think it comes down to Meryl Streep and her tirade against Walt Disney which inadvertently affected Hanks' chances for Saving Mr Banks and then people thought, well then, maybe Captain Phillips was anti-semitic, and then it filtered all the way to Tom Hanks for that role too.

 

In essence, Meryl is to blame for everything. And Riczhang.

There have been 10 people to be double nommed. So while it doesn't often happen, it has happened.

 

Jamie Foxx was double nommed for Ray and Collateral, and won for Ray. Cate Blanchett was the recent person to be nominated twice for the Golden Age and I'm Not There in 2008. 

 

Either way it's a fucking shame Hanks was snubbed.
