We finally have some data for 2023, the total box office was 500M euros and the tickets sold were over 70M

 

The highest grossing movies were C'è Ancora Domani (34.5M), Barbie (32.1M), Oppenheimer (28M) and Super Mario Bros (20.4)

 

C'è Ancora Domani in particular is still in theaters and will soon pass the 5.06M tickets sold by Avatar 2

Heron doesn't look super frontloaded to me, it's still leading and holding reasonably...will cross 6M for sure..

 

Also Japanese film "Perfect Days" is doing...good? Already at 962k after a 93k thu.

 

Beekeeper had a 77k OD (lol), not much to say. Wonka and Wish fell off pretty harsh after the holidays.

DS' release here was a fucking joke lmao

 

Heron is excellent though I'm really surprised at how well perfect days is doing? Could make a play for 3M+ euros which feels pretty unprecedented for a japanese live action film to me, and according to mojo (so probably wrong) that'd make Italy its best market and I have no idea why

C'è Ancora Domani grossed 400k euros in its 12th weekend and surpassed the 35M euros and the 5.1M admissions of Avatar 2

 

Excluding the 4 Checco Zalone movies, the last Italian film to gross more by estimates was "Chiedimi se Sono Felice" by Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo with 38M euros in 2000

Perfect Days keeps increasing and managed to take #1 (!) despite not bad holds from Heron, will cross 2M tomorrow and 3M+ is a lock. Cool little run.

 

Is there a list of highest grossing Japanese live action films? I assume Perfect Days already tops it.

From the reviews the latest film by Pieraccioni seems to be the worst of his career (so far) but it opened in first position with 1.3M euros

 

As I like to remember every time he does a new film, this is the same guy who had two movies making 40M and 38M euros in the 90'

 

Then some updates, The Boy and the Heron is at 6.2M, Wonka at 14.2M, C'è Ancora Domani at 35.6M and Wish at 9.1M

Poor Things and especially ABY weekdays have been fantastic, both should be looking to hold around flat or even post small increases from last weekend. Poor Things has beaten The Favourite's total gross in only 8 days and will probably cross 6 million full run.
