Okay is anyone else completely creeped the fuck out by the Direct Tv marionette ads. Especially the one with the wife seducing the husband. Seriously Direct Tv, the fuck

Help me out, kowhite: for most franchises we seriously over-value what merchandising is worth.

Just wait until Tele Jr. wants those Spidey tighty whities.

I miss their "When you pay too much for cable..." campaign. That was hilarious.

I find the Disney rights issue really weird when it comes to Walt Disney World. They can't have Spidey , Cap or Hulk there because Universal owns the rights

They can't have any Marvel characters at WDW.

Ah, I remember that one. I remember the ones that had Charlie Sheen in it, those were funny.

Sorry let me continue. But they've had monorails wrapped with an Avengers theme but I read something that as long as that monorail didn't enter the Magic Kingdom or Epcot and just stuck to the hotel loop then technically the characters weren't in the parks

It's very weird. To make it even more weird, before Disney bought Marvel, Marvel begged Universal to re-up the deal for the superheroes at Universal in California. Universal decided that they weren't worth the money and passed. Then, Disney bought Marvel and now they'd love to get out of the Florida contract but Universal doesn't want to give the theme park rights up.

To make it even more weird, Disney needed an alternative to building new attractions at Walt Disney World since they couldn't use Marvel characters like they could in Disneyland. So they started talking to George Lucas about building more Star Wars attractions. But, Disney decided that they'd be better off just buying LucasFilm. Now, we're getting a new Star Wars movie.
