Jake Gittes
Broadly speaking, they are both films about what contemporary America is and/or could be, and what people who live in it are to each other. There are musical numbers in one and dance numbers in the other (Nashville also has an awful and degrading stripping scene), and both build to a 4th of July rally. They are obviously not parallels in terms of construction or subgenre or other major elements, but they do evoke each other in my mind.

Maybe egalitarian would be a better term to describe it. Also I'm not seeing the socialist message in Children of Men. Seems more feminist than anything. But it's worth thinking about and I do think they would make a good double feature.
BadAtGender
My friends and I have been doing a monthly-ish movie night for the past five years. Each time someone picks two movies that, in theory, have a bit of thematic connection. Here's the pairings I've done so far: Princess Mononoke The Secret of Kells Paprika Inception Rango Spirited Away The Iron Giant How to Train Your Dragon Speed Racer Fast 5 Moon WALL-E Network Bolt Mary & Max Ernest & Celestine Lilo & Stitch Man of Steel The Last Unicorn

Yeah socialist may not be the right word. but I wouldn't call Gattaca egalitarian because it's traits the non genetically created humans as below them, it's only the "perfect" humans that are treated equally. either way they are both great sci-fi films with similar tones.
