Alien: Covenant | 5/19/2017 | Who needs mystery?

Stanley Kubrick's ambitious Space Odyssey may not answer all of its big questions, but its redeemed by its haunting visual grandeur and compelling performances, particularly HAL 9000 as a fastidious computer.

Couldn't resist rofl, this thread is hilarious

"witty" picture

But it doesn't change the facts. Ridley himself calls Alien a slasher in space.

Texas Chainsaw in Space. A B movie with an A movie budget.

Looks like it's time for you to stop posting. :)

You said Aliens.

Derp.

"The Nostromo crew are commercial freighter officers and blue collar people. At the beginning of the movie, they did what they're supposed to do"

Blablabla

Just like the crew of the Prometheus. They are brought for a specific task without knowing the true objective. Just like the Marines in Aliens. Just like those bountyhunters in Alien 4

You're deluded if you think people applying for classified positions know the details of the job specifics before being brought on.

So

you FAIL. once again.

And nice job ignoring the other points.

It must be embarrassing being this wrong so often. ^_^

You can expect space truckers, marines, and bounty hunters to not be quite as smart as scientists.

If I was someone who just forked over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS to try and find immortality, you bet your ass I'm going to have a very substantial and lengthy hiring process.  Psychological evaluations for everyone!

It just doesn't make sense why he would hire morons to do this for him.

It has nothing to do with intelligence

The nature of a CLASSIFIED mission remains the same.

Besides the fact that Vickers highered the crew and didn't care.

Its amazing how many people didn't catch that early on in the film at the briefing.  She was reckless and didn't hire the best because she thought her dad was a crazy supersticious idiot looking for some sort of fountain of youth in space.  She even specifically says to Shaw and Holloway shortly after that she thinks the cave scribblings are from cave men and that they're idiots as well. Its actually one of the most crucial parts of the movie and one of the reasons why the mission was doomed from the start.

So basically, LEAVE THE FUCKING STONER GEOLOGIST AND HIPPIE STEVE IRWIN BIOLOGIST ALONE, rofl.

Lets touch this snake thing. I have no idea what it is but hey what the hell. I am afraid of everything but a space snake.

Yeah, pretty much the exact same thing happened in the original Alien, so I'm not seeing why it's so much more unrealistic in Prometheus.

Either way, it makes no sense.  All you have to do is think about it for one second.

This is a mission that is quite literally vital to the survival of Weyland.  This extremely important, and I say it again because they mentioned it, a TRILLION dollar expedition.  I can certainly understand the secrecy of the mission, but that doens't mean you can't interview and recruit the very best minds in those fields, you just don't tell them what they are doing.

He trusted the hiring of these important people to his estranged daughter and didn't tell her how important it was?  That is just asking for your mission to fail.  All of that secrecy mostly just to "surprise" her by later showing up on the ship?  Worst secret ever.

Because one would think scientists have a protocol when seeing new species for the first time.  Space truckers on the other hand probably don't.

That level of delusion and basic misunderstanding is outstanding. So for you, the Alien crew that goes into space for a prime task being space truckers that carry a refinery back to Earth is the same as the bulk of the Prometheus crew that go into space on a trillion dollars 2 years journey without a prime task and not knowing their mission prior to embarking but 30 minutes before arriving at destination many light years away from Earth. (It's like the Apollo crew being put in a rocket just to find out just before lunar landing they're actually going to the moon without knowing each other prior embarking. That prospect sounds so asinine and abysmal).:unsure:

(And no, in Aliens, the Marines knew what was their prime mission prior to boarding the Sulaco: Investigate why the company lost the colony signal on a hostile environment. The company suspected the Aliens so that's why they bring Ripley as a consultant for her past experience with the Alien and Burke to override the mission. You obviously didn't get Aliens either, maybe that's why you don't love it, it is too logical for you)

You're literally a failure of basic comprehension,  even a 4 years old child can grasp the difference. How embarrasing to be deprived of such cognitive capacities (You could be part of the Prometheus crew with such logical flaws), I guess we're done..."You were so wrong"

Because one would think scientists have a protocol when seeing new species for the first time.  Space truckers on the other hand probably don't.

Alien crew is shown to have a protocol. Ripley is adamant of not letting Kane onboard after being attacked because of the protocol (and an egg is not a space cobra you're trying to cuddle. Kane didn't try to pet the facehugger). Kane is put in quarantine thanks to the protocol since Ash got his biased agenda, he follows it. Ripley shows much anger against Dallas decision to override the protocol influenced by Ash. So even space truckers are smarter than supposed scientists.

In Prometheus, Vickers arbitrarily followed a ghost protocol at the will of the bad script. One time, she wants to burn down every single people suspected of contamination that try to come inside the ship. Then, she let an unarmed crew member open the door when they saw Zombie Fifield who is supposed to have died miles away in the temple and crawled back to the ship like a crab. Holloway should have been put in quarantine protocol as soon as his obvious bad condition is revealed because he could put the whole mission on danger by contaminating the rest of the crew. But every single member of the crew is moronic and egoistic, Holloway first.
