The cast does a terrific job here and it's part of what makes it work.  It's far from great and the first half hour is pretty bad.  But once it picks up steam and establishes the conflict, the film is a nice one.  There are not many funny moments but there is one gut bustingly funny one with Krasinski and Cooper where they don't speak but subtitles come up to explain their thoughts.  Pretty funny stuff there.

I love Cameron Crowe, and I'm glad baumer sort of liked it. I need to see this. Got a feeling it will be alright in my book.

My dad would probably see at least 12+ movies a year in cinemas. His preference would be dramas and romantic comedies. He went to see this during the week while his car was getting serviced. He said he hated it and described it as "absolute garbage".

Didn't care at all for it. The cast had zero chemistry and it was an all around dull film with no life behind it.

I thought it was cute and touching at the end. Bradley Cooper is damn hot, and I love his acting! Emma Stone is cute and funny and they have good chemistry. I just love Hawaii and it's native traditions, seen in this film.

Watched this due to morbid curiosity, and yeah it's as terrible as everyone says.

 

The Atlantic gave this film the "Cameron Crowe Award for a Soundtrack In Search of a Movie". I think that's the best way to put it.

Despite the great cast it was a big fat boring nothing. Easily Crowe's worst movie and I've seen Elizabethtown (which has lot of charming moments compared to this one).
