True. I agree. There's never a movie that made over $1B WW......that has disappointed, box-office wise. They have done killer-business.

So if Ep 8 makes $1.01b that's not gonna be a disappointment? Like, at all?

And WW-wise...CA3 is likely to end up over other movies like ROTK, TF3, TF4, Skyfall & Minions.

Well, honestly, if you look at the list of $1b grossers, most of them are either the the 1st or 2nd films in their franchise to get to that benchmark so they weren't given the same expectations to overtake its predecessors.

Civil War's performance is both good and bad.

It's good because its performing fine, but it's bad because Iron Man 3 made 1.2 billion without any other Avengers.

If you compare Civil War's performance to Iron Man 3 performance, its disappointing. That's really dangerous because Marvel can't keep using Downey Jr all the time to boost other movies. I mean, I don't want a male Jennifer Lawrence, which I hope it never happens. Hopefully we won't see a Downey Jr fatigue...

In a nutshell, Civil War numbers are cool, but far away from being impressive. Predictions ( from both fanboys and sources ) were insanely high, reviews were kind. So, what happened? I'm not asking in a bad way, I'm curious.

It's made a ton of money, but honestly everyone expected more, not just Marvel diehards. Look at the tracking, look at all the predictions.

Yeah....exactly. Same thing happened with Avengers: Age of Ultron, last year. But that film still made $1.4B WW....which even those numbers aren't that disappointing.

Maybe it's the nature of some Marvel-movies. Some of them end up being overestimated in the end.

Well....maybe to some people....but for me, not really. Those are the close numbers that SW: EP1's WW is at now. But i think SW: EP8 will outdo EP1, again.

The only reasons I could envision why Civil War's performance just hasn't been up to par are that people got tired of SH movies after Deadpool and BVS came out so soon (and BVS, which shared a very similar concept, wasn't good, on top of that), Ultron disinterested some in another Avengers-type smackdown, and that our expectations were WAY too high for a film that, despite featuring and promoting pretty much all of the Avengers, was still called "Captain America" (and globally, that may have had a bigger than expected impact).

But we still live in a world where a Captain America (by title) movie grossed over $1B dollars WW. It'll outperform Winter Soldier DOM by about 130M. That's great. Just not... great enough to make us forget that Iron Man, Spider-Man and all of those people in the same film weren't enough for this to outperform Iron Man by himself (IM3).
