The Panda
The fact that they nominated Milly Bobby Brown makes my heart warm. Girl deserves it. I am upset about the Lena Headey snub though, her Cersei really makes the show. This also gives Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight an edge over La La Land. Gosling and Stone are the only people who do anything at all in La La Land. John Legend is the only other person in the movie who doesn't make a one scene cameo among the familiar faces in the supporting cast, and he still has less than 5 minutes of actual screen time. Giving it an Ensemble nom would've been really pushing it.
SLAM!
The one that makes my mind race is the cast nomination for Captain Fantastic. They've chosen this over other films like 20th Century Women, Nocturnal Animals, Hell or High Water, etc. At the very least, we know Bleeker Street is focusing their campaign efforts on this film, so I just wonder what will come of it come Oscar time. I think Viggo is the fifth Actor nominee this year at this point.
