Besides a few moments here and there (Gary Cole being weirdly underused stands out the most for me), everyone just brought it, and JLD was on fucking fire through all of it. She could submit any of the season's ten episodes for her Emmy and deserve to win it. A whole new level for this show, I mean it was as hilarious as ever, but it also managed to be genuinely dramatic, nuanced, sharp as fuck and amazingly cringe-worthy all within a space of 27 minutes. Unbelievably consistent, and the debate episode might be my new favorite of the series. Everyone involved nailed every single scene. Looked like it was improvised (not the nose-bleed, but everything that followed), it was just so inspired and immediate. This was an amazing season of TV. First class comedy. Easily stands beside The Thick of It and In the Loop. It'll be a goddamn crime if it loses Best Comedy Series again.
