Eric Quinn
http://deadline.com/2018/02/fifty-shades-freed-peter-rabbit-1517-to-paris-weekend-box-office-1202283099/ Quote E.L. James’ Fifty Shades Freed is heading for a $40M weekend start per early midday estimates, which is only 14% off from the opening of Fifty Shades Darker last year ($46.6M). Not bad for a threequel, which outside of superhero movies, notorious for being the lowest for any franchise. Friday is looking at around $18M, which is down 16% from Fifty Shades Darker‘s $21.4M Friday. If you backed out Thursday night previews from that sequel’s Friday night, it was roughly even with Saturday night. The point being that business was even between Friday and Saturday, which is notable for a female-driven movie as they tend to be front-loaded. After Fifty Shades Darker fell to second last year behind The Lego Batman Movie, Fifty Shades Freed returns the erotic franchise to the top of the box office. Sony Animation’s Peter Rabbit is coming in second with $5M today and a projected $22M-$23M debut in second, a good start for a $50M-net budgeted kids’ pic that is bound to leg out. Warner Bros./Village Roadshow’s Clint Eastwood movie The 15:17 to Paris is looking at $4M today and a projected three-day of $13.5M. Warner Bros. was spotting $10M-12M for the pic which stars the actual American heroes who subdued a terrorist and foiled his 2015 Thalys train attack. Eastwood keeps ’em cheap and this one carries a reported production cost of $30M.

WrathOfHan
@DAJK You were bang on with 15:17 Good starts for Fifty Shades and Peter Rabbit. They haven't been overly reliant on walkups from what I've seen so far at my theater, but that may change later.
DAJK
Welp, I was off on Peter Rabbit, but spot on with 1517 and close with FSF Edited February 9, 2018 by DAJK
WrathOfHan
I think 13.5M might be a bit generous for 15:17. If audiences are following critics, WOM is going to suck. This is what I see happening with that Friday: 4M 5M (+25%) 3.2M (-35%) 12.2M Weekend
a2k
-Peter Rabbit's prod budget is 50m (Mojo), so another win for Sony eh. -Shades2 dom was 2.46x the ow. I think this one could be 2.35x+, which gives 94+ with 40 ow. If it does worseit's still likely to do 4-5x the prod budget (55) globally.
