Plot: It is the cusp of World War I, and all the European powers are arming up. The Austro-Hungarians and Germans have their Clankers, steam-driven iron machines loaded with guns and ammunition. The British Darwinists employ fabricated animals as their weaponry. Their Leviathan is a whale airship, and the most masterful beast in the British fleet. Aleksandar Ferdinand, prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is on the run. His own people have turned on him. His title is worthless. All he has is a battle-torn Stormwalker and a loyal crew of men.Deryn Sharp is a commoner, a girl disguised as a boy in the British Air Service. She's a brilliant airman. But her secret is in constant danger of being discovered. With the Great War brewing, Alek's and Deryn's paths cross when the airship carrying Deryn is forced to crash-land onto a glacier near Alek's mountain hideout. German perusal forces them to make hasty repairs and takes them both aboard the Leviathan on a fantastical, around-the-world adventure. Meanwhile, Deryn is staying with her brother Jaspert in London. Her father died in a ballooning accident and her mother and aunts want her to grow up as a proper lady. Deryn dreams of joining the British Air Service and to serve on one of the great airbeasts. In order to do so, she must pretend to be a boy ("Dylan Sharp"). To pass the starting exam, she goes aloft with a Huxley (a combination of jellyfish and hot-air-balloon) to prove her air-worthiness. However, a storm hits while she is aloft, severely tossing Deryn and the Huxley about, and they narrowly survive—she is forced to cut the Huxley loose from its mooring in order to avoid crashing into a nearby building. This results in Deryn and the Huxley being blown out over the North Sea; she is thrilled when she and the Huxley are rescued by the Leviathan, the most famous of the air-beasts, a massive ecosystem comprising many different animals but based largely on a whale. She is inducted into the crew of the Leviathan, and makes friends with the Monkey Luddite Newkirk.

The Leviathan's mission is to transport a top British scientist (“boffin”) and a secret package to Constantinople. Deryn is surprised to learn the boffin is a woman, Dr. Nora Barlow, and is afraid Barlow will discover her secret. In the air over Europe, the Leviathan comes under attack from German airplanes. The crew fights back and manages to defeat the planes, but not before the great whale’s hydrogen bladder is severely punctured. The airship crash-lands in Switzerland on the very glacier where Alek’s group is hiding. Alek and Volger witness the crash, but Volger insists they do nothing to interfere, as they will risk giving away their position to the Germans or being captured by the British. Alek is unable to stomach letting the crew of the Leviathan suffer out on the ice, and secretly leaves the fortress to bring medicine to the crew of the fallen ship. The first person he finds is an unconscious Deryn, who had fallen from the rigging during the crash. Alek revives her and claims unconvincingly to be a Swiss villager. Deryn is suspicious of him and sounds the alarm, resulting in Alek’s capture. Alek continues to insist he is just a bystander trying help, but the captain refuses to release him and instead leaves him under Deryn’s charge. The secret cargo brought by Dr. Barlow is revealed to be eggs of some kind, though most were destroyed in the crash. Alek's "family" comes to his rescue, and battle would have erupted between the two if Deryn's quick thinking in bringing Alek to the front and holding him as a hostage hadn't brought everyone to the table to talk under a flag of truce. Realizing their differences are outweighed by their similarities, Alek offers a sizable chunk from their food storage so the ship can replenish its hydrogen supply and take off again. However, as they travel back to the Leviathan, two German zeppelins appear and send out commandos to capture them. Unfortunately, one of the zeppelins escapes, and the Stormwalker is severely damaged by an aerial bomb, making it impossible to stand up and repair.

Thanks to the diplomacy of Dr. Barlow and a bright idea from Alek, the two groups decide to combine their technologies and leave together as one group. Alek also admits his true origins to Deryn/Dylan and Dr. Barlow when he realizes he let a few too many things slip. The Austrians dismantle the Stormwalker and use its engines to replace those lost by the Leviathan. The Austrian engines prove to be much more powerful than its previous ones, propelling them quickly away from danger and the deadly Herkules (Clanker Ship). In the aftermath, Dr. Barlow reveals information about a fabricated ship in England that was sold to the Ottoman Empire but then taken back (even though it was paid in full) by Winston Churchill, thus creating rivalry among the British and the Ottomans. The film closes with the Leviathan continuing its flight towards Constantinople with Alek watching the mysterious eggs that will hatch into some unknown fabricated species.

Following the purging of Heaven, God creates the World, culminating in his creation of Adam and Eve. Adam is very upset by this vision of humankind's future, which is utterly dark and bleak. Michael also tells him about humankind's potential redemption from original sin through Jesus Christ. Adam and Eve confront God who casts them out of the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve now have a distant relationship with God, who is omnipresent but invisible. The film ends with them building a home and planting crops. The film ends with a narration about humanities future.

“So this is me. I don’t know what my parents are arguing about. They argue so much you get use to tuning them out. *We hear a door slam* Yep, that is my dad. See he is a classic door slammer. Just smashes it has loud as he can. *We hear another door slam* And that is my mom. She goes for variety. Dramatic door slam, back kick slam, and dozens more. Tonight she is mixing it up. So yeah, a typical night….except for one thing. Tonight was the first night I got abducted by aliens. I swear I am not crazy.”

Their body has two appendages that come out to form legs. They don’t have arms, but can sprout arms at will. They stand over a terrified Henry looking down at him in curiosity. Henry then voices over: ‘That was the last time I saw my dad. One final slam of the door. No translation or words needed.”

We Are The Ants

September 7th, 2015

The film opens with Henry lying on a table in the space ship. The aliens move around him. We see welts all over his body from the alien’s tests. Suddenly the tables transforms into a chair. All but one of the aliens leave the room. The lights lighten up and we see Henry is released from the force that paralyzes him. Henry gasps as he is released. He looks at the alien puzzled. He then asks if the alien is testing his patience because if so good luck. He says his family already does that. The alien just stares at him. Henry then continues to rant about his family life. He says his brother is a pathetic college dropout living with him, his mom, and his Nana who is slowly losing her mind to Alzheimer’s. He says yesterday, they found out his off and on again girlfriend is pregnant. He says that his mom lost her mind and almost kicked Charlie out. Suddenly a bolt of light shots over his head and into the middle of the room. We see it form a three dimensional image of earth. It is very detailed and beautiful. Henry marvels at it.  A red button lowered from the ceiling appears above the projection. Henry looks at the alien and says, “You want me to hit it?” He reaches out but then is suddenly struck with a shock. He falls to the ground with a yell of pain. He gets up and says he won’t touch it. Suddenly the image of earth explodes. Henry looks at the alien trying to figure out what it means. The image of earth reappears. Henry repeats that he will not press the button. The earth explodes. This repeats several times. On the eighth time however the alien shocks Henry again. Henry yells in pain and anger. He says, “What the fuck do you want?” The alien just looks at him. Henry angrily walks over and slams the button. Suddenly, he is hit with an intense pleasure and euphoria. He is taken back by it. He then slaps it again. Same intense pleasure. We see Henry slam the button. When he hits it, he gets a dose of euphoria and the earth doesn’t explode. When he doesn’t hit it, he is shocked and the earth explodes. He finally realizes this. He says, “So the earth is going to blow up?” He gets a burst of pleasure. He then says, “You can stop it with the button?” He gets another dose of joy and a shock. He is confused. He then says, “You want me to press the button?” He gets it right. He then asks when the earth is going to blow up. The earth image flashes and we see a commercial for a TV show play. In it, it says, “144 days”. After the commercial plays, Henry says that he has 144 days to decide if he wants to save the earth and if he hits the button, earth will be saved He gets a dose of euphoria. He then stops and says, “And if I don’t?” The earth explodes and the room instantly goes black. Henry falls to the ground unconscious.

We see Henry in the early morning running home from the woods. He is naked and uses an old garbage cover to hide his private areas. He runs up to the back of his house. Under the A/C unit, we see him grab a duffel and change into clothes. He then darts quickly around the front and into the house quietly. He walks into the kitchen acting like he just woke up. We see his Nana sitting at the table eating dinner. His mom has a cigarette in her mouth and is cooking eggs on the stove. She tells him she was calling for him to get up. She asks if he is deaf. Henry says he was just fast asleep. We see Nana chuckle to herself. Henry’s mom tells him, he needs to get his ass out of bed when she calls him. She says she isn’t gonna have him turn into a lazy sack of shit. Henry sits down to eat but before he can eat his brother Charlie walks in and grabs his food from him. He immediately devors it while saying that Henry wasn’t home last night. Henry is questioned by his mother who he lies and says he went for a walk because he couldn’t sleep. His mother isn’t buying it and asks if he is sleep-walking again. Henry says no. His mother rolls her eyes and goes back to the kitchen to make toast and grab another cigarette. Charlie meanwhile continues to mock Henry. Henry mumbles to himself and grabs some toast and walks out of the kitchen. Henry’s mom yells after him that she is working late tonight and he needs to take care of Nana. Nana scolds Henry’s mom saying she can take care of herself. Henry’s mom sighs and shakes her head. We see Henry walk to his room and grabs his school stuff and phone. He then leaves for school.

We see Henry walking to school. We see that he lives in a rundown and poor area of town. The school is located however in a upper class area with nice houses. Henry walks into school and makes his way to his first class of the day: Chemistry. We see him take his seat and pull out his homework, which he completed. His teacher arrives and she is extremely geeky and enthusiastic about the subject. Henry takes his seat and opens his notebook. He is then poked by a pencil from a guy behind named Marcus. Marcus address him as “Space Boy”, which gets laughs from his friends. Marcus asks if he can get some notes for the quiz from Henry. Henry tells him to leave him alone. Marcus continues to taunt him until Ms. Faraci notices and tells him to shut up. Henry sits distracted in the class. His thoughts are racing about the ultimatum the aliens gave him. We also learn that Charlie told everybody at school about his abductions and Henry is referred to as Space Boy by most of the school. The bell finally rings and Henry quickly leaves. We see a girl look up after him when he leaves. She has a concerned look on her face.

The film moves to Henry in the bathroom. He finishes washing his hands and looks up in the mirror. Marcus walks into the bathroom and grabs Henry. He pulls Henry into a stall and they two begin to make out. Marcus shoves his hands down Henry’s pants and Henry gasps. They continue to make out until they hear the bathroom door open. Henry freezes and Marcus decides to take a piss. Soon the individual leaves the bathroom and both boys leave the stall. Marcus says that his parents are gone this weekend and Henry (Space Boy) should come over for a party. Henry stops him and says he thought they agreed that Marcus wouldn’t call him Space Boy. Marcus tells him to chill and that he thinks Henry is cute. He re-asks the question about staying the weekend. Henry says he needs to stay at home to look after his grandma. He says that his mom works all weekend and it is his turn to look after her. Henry says that Nana’s dementia has gotten worse. Marcus tells Henry it is his loss. Henry says Marcus could come to his place. Marcus wrinkles his nose in disgust and says he will pass. He then leans in and kisses Henry. The door bursts open and a kid walks in. Marcus shoves Henry into the trash can and says, “See ya Space Boy!” The kid laughs as Henry gets up and quickly leaves.

@Hiccup23 Added your stuff to the schedule, nice to see you've got some stuff for us this year!

That said, opening The Female Man on the same day as Earthsong is prooooobably not a great idea... Maybe give DuVernay a bit of extra time to get around to that after Redeeming Love? Poor woman is probably exhausted cranking out a new movie for you the same weekend every year :P

Also obviously it's a formality at this point, but don't forget to claim rights to the book in the franchise thread.

Spoiler

We open in the deserts of Saudi Arabia as the screen is cluttered with both sand and lens flares. We center in a group of soldiers guarding a compound in the distance. We then see a giant weaponized jet in the distance. The soldiers prepare to garner their weapons as we see a man decked out with a cryogenic suit and ice blaster. The man introduces himself as The Brain Freezer. The soldiers give him a warning to back off or else but The Brain Freezer shoots his ice blaster freezing the soldiers one by one while making very shitty ice puns as he storms his way inside all the way downstairs and picks up an alien artifact of a flame like symbol. However, a partially frozen soldiers clicks the self destruct button in the base creating numerous explosions along with whipcrack sound effect. The Brain Freezer grabs the artifact and dashes out of the base, dodging multiple explosions as he quickly gets away in his jet as the compound explodes in the background. Looking at a screen in the jet, revealing Bling Bling Boy in a golden pimp suit, complete with red headed waitresses in skimpy outfits, as the camera takes a few good shots of their bodies. The Brain Freezer reports he’s got the artifact he wanted. Bling Bling Boy promises he’ll give the money as soon as he get back and that with the artifact he’ll be the most powerful being in the world. Bling Bling Boy lets out a manical laugh as we see an explosion in front of a black screen and in big black and red letters, the title reads:

Michael Bay’s Johnny Test

We then cut to Baytick University as we hear Linkin Park like music play in the background as we see dudebros throwing a football and females in uniform... in bikinis. We then see Professor TeacherMan, in his classroom, ranting about the genius that is Michael Bay, but not before he does a roll call for his students. We hear TeacherMan shouting names until he finally gets to Johnny Test. The lens flares kicks in once more as Johnny, complete with the golden blonde hair with flame red highlights, kicks down the doors making a dope entrance on a rocket powered backpack, gliding into his seat. His classmates are in awe, as the male students applause and the female students lust. Mr. TeacherMan then does a lecture talking about the seven wonders of the world. Johnny is bored and decides to flirt with the new girl, Sissi, who rebuffs his advances. After the lecture, Mr. TeacherMan dismisses the class as the classmates storms out. Johnny still tries to get with Sissi but she still doesn’t want him. Johnny calls her stuck up and shrugs it off and heads back to his dorm, to see his best friend, Dukey, a humanoid dog with an American flag hat, smoking some pot, while making a bunch of racial jokes while playing Fortnite. Johnny talks about Sissi asking for Dukey’s advice on how to get her. Dukey suggests showing off his more manly side as it always works. The two then decide to hang out in their dorm, smoking pot and farting until Johnny looks outside the window to see Sissi in a bikini, fighting ninjas in gold suits but is easily beating them. Johnny and Dukey rush outside to help as we hear another whipcrack sound effect as the camera does a 360 shot of their fighting and a few shots Sissi’s bikini and ass until they defeat the ninjas. Sissi thanks Johnny for the help and offers to hang out sometime, not before government agents arrive, knocking out both Johnny and Dukey.

We then cut to the Pentagon as we see the President (who raps to talk) describes his greatness in the State of The Union while giving his plan for the year. However, he’s quickly pulled aside by his top two CIA agents, Mr. White, a black man and Mr. Black, a white man. The President quickly ends the presentation as they speedwalk through the White House while passing through a wall of American memorabilia. Mr White explains that The Brain Freezer has broken into one of their secret compound and stolen an powerful artifact. Mr. Black then says that it can start an armageddon, also pointing out that The Brain Freezer has also stolen their gear for a interstellar communication system. The President assumes it was Bling Bling Boy, who has done multiple acts of terrorism.

Johnny and Dukey wake up from their previous unconscious. Dukey jokes that Sissi is kinkier than they thought. The two are then greeted by two familiar faces, his sisters, Susan (a red headed woman in a lab coat with a star shirt underneath that exposes her midriff) and Mary (same clothing as Susan but with a moon shirt that also exposes her midriff). Johnny says he wasn’t surprised they’re doing experiments but he’s surprised they’d work for government rats. Susan explains that things have changed and that they need his and Dukey’s help once more. The President, Mr. White, Mr. Black and Sissi arrive in the room as well. Sissi proudly explains she was the one who brought in Johnny. Gil, sporting a robotic arm suddenly arrives to the base, explaining they need Johnny’s help as Susan and Mary fawn over him.

Mary says that The Brain Freezer has stolen the Space Flame, a mythical artifact that acts an infathomable power source to summon a hostile group of aliens. Susan says that they need Johnny and Dukey, to save the world once more and retrieve before he can do something nefarious with it. Mr. White explains that a tracker has been placed on The Brain Freezer unknowingly during his raid. Mary said they’ve been working on a perfected serum to give the user superpowers but the serum has killed almost all of their test subjects except, but before Mary can finish her sentence, Johnny exclaims he and Dukey are tired of being their lab rats. Susan assures Johnny that what happened in the war and Fred’s death isn’t his fault and they still won but Johnny refuses and he and Dukey leave but not before he leaves, Mary asks Sissi to stop him and tries to convince him to reconsider, handing her the serum and costumes for the two. Sissi agreed and leave but not after we hear the same whipcrack noise for earlier, that Bling Bling Boy in a gold robotic mech suit and Brain Freezer bursts in. BBB snatches Susan with his grappling claw, expresses his joy to be reunited with his love but Susan explains she’ll never love or even like him. A group of army soldiers arrive as well to help defend them. Mary also grabs a big gun as well, Mr. Black tells some of them to escort the President out of their and a brawl breaks out. BBB blasts lasers at Gil, Mary, Mr. Black and Mr. White who shot at him with their guns while soldiers fight the Brain Freezer. The fight is so epic we hear a mix of the Johnny Test whipcrack noise and Linkin Park esque music as the lens flares blare. The Brain Freezer freezes the soldiers to death one by one, and just as Gil and Mary free Susan, and as Mr. Black and Mr. White almost beat BBB, the Brain Freezer freezes Mr. Black and Mr. White solid. BBB then knocks out Gil and attempts to kill Mary, by choking her with his grappling claw, warning that if Susan doesn’t help them, she dies. Susan without a beat reluctantly agree to the two’s demands.  BBB demands the serum but Susan reveals it’s gone much to BBB’s outrage but calms down and takes Susan with him as Brain Freezer rigs the Pentagon to explode as the two villains escape with Susan. Mary thaws out the agents quickly as the three grabs Gil and the four head into a escape pod barely escaping as the Pentagon and the White House explodes, frozen in an icy like substance.

We cut to Johnny and Dukey working out at an abandoned warehouse. Sissi arrives trying to convince them to help them but Johnny refuses. Sissi explains she and the world needs him, admitting she has some feelings for him but everyone will die otherwise. Johnny sighs and explains to her the story of the war. Johnny and Dukey were enlisted to help fight against evil space mole men as the superheroes Johnny X and Superpooch alongside the army along with his friends, Fred Johnson, nicknamed Coconut Fred demolition expert and pilot and Gil, the top soldier in the army to break into the mothership tanker underground. Johnny then explains that the fight was going good despite Gil’s arm lose but the tanker was rigged to explode and kill everyone on Earth. Without hesitation, Fred piloted the tanker into outer space to avoid the disaster for hurting others, died. Johnny sheds a tear and Dukey comforts him. Sissi explaining he was memorialized as a hero for the events and they should do it for Fred. Johnny and Dukey reluctantly agree to go through with it as Johnny and Sissi passionately make out. The three are then ambushed by a pack of ninjas, and Johnny and Dukey quickly down the serum. The ninjas charge at Johnny who blows them back with his hurricane hands. Dukey, flying it the air, shapeshifts his paws into blades and stabs the ninja. Johnny then farts out explosive blasts of fire sending the ninjas flying. Although the ninjas are defeated, a ninja manages to steal their costumes. The three then walk out of the warehouse to get a call from Mary, revealing that BBB kidnapped Susan and is planning to destroy the world. Mary sends them to coordination and sees that the two have received their superpowers but Mary asks what happened to their costumes. Dukey reveals the ninjas stole much to Mary’s horror as their souped up DNA is in the suits and BBB can use it. Johnny also points out that the costumes gave their powers a boost too.

Meanwhile back at BBB’s lab, Susan is being forced to design the doomsday machine. BBB attempts to flirt with her but she still rebuffs him, causing her to be shocked with pain via her shock collar. BBB say she’ll learn to love him. BBB thanks her for the machine and serum saying that hopefully his ninjas will arrive. The ninjas arrive with the costumes much to Susan’s shock. Back at the warehouse, Gil, Mary, Mr. Black and Mr. White meet up on what to do next. Mary remembers that there’s costumes back at their parents house and Johnny and Sissi rush back to Johnny’s parents house join Hubert and Lisa Test for a meatloaf dinner while Dukey gets the costumes. But before they leave, Hubert tells his son to save the planet. Johnny and Dukey suit up as Johnny X and Superpooch as the seven then rush to Bling Bling Island as we see a massive sky beam, (we show cuts of the world falling apart which a lot of shots of Americans in trouble as explosions appear out of thin air, attacked by robotic gremlins being summoned (we get a cool scene of TeacherMan using a shotgun to protect to his students from the bloodthirsty robots.) and are stopped by a super powered group of ninjas and the power charged Brain Freezer due to the costumes fabrics. Johnny X and Superpooch fight the Brain Freezer as the rest fights the ninjas: Mary and Sissi are blasting away at ninjas with a ray gun, Mr. Black and Mr. White are violently beating up ninjas as Johnny X and Superpooch dodge freezing lasers. Johnny X uses his hurricane hands at Brain Freezer who makes another shitty ice pun try to collide it with an ice beam. Lens flares and power clash as Dukey farts out a noxious gas that causes Brain Freezer to cough up and Johnny lets out a fire fart creating a massive explosion that lets out a whipcrack sound, killing Brain Freezer. The rest have also killed he ninjas but before they can proceed, BBB crashes in, powered up ready to fight refusing to lose. Johnny X says they’ll stay here and fight and the others need to go and save Susan and the world. Johnny X, Superpooch and BBB Duke it out in a gruesome fight, BBB fires energy blasts leveling parts of the world which Superpooch evades and Johnny X dishes out super powered punches. Eventually the fight becomes a standstill until Johnny gets an idea, combining his hurricane hands and fire farts to create a tornado of fire which badly burn BBB as Superpooch stabs BBB, killing him but not before warning Johnny it is just the beginning. Sissi uses her out of nowhere code breaking skills to stop the machine but triggers a self destruct mechanism, as Gil frees Susan. The seven then use Superpooch’s teleportation power escape the island as it makes the biggest explosion ever in a Michael Bay movie.

A week later, the President gives Johnny and Dukey medals of honor, promotes Sissi to an official commander of agents (and grant her a skimpy outfit), Gil ends up with both Susan and Mary. Mr. Black and Mr. White retrieving parts of Brain Freezer’s body, revealing he’s an alien robot. Johnny and Sissi are also an item to and make out as the credits show up, playing 6ix9ine’s Jonathan Testicles song.

Mid Credit Scene: We see a salad shaped spaceship in space with a group of green skinned humanoid vegans inside. The leader says they’ll be coming to Earth soon to enforce revenge for the suffering of animals, with their new weapon. We then cut to the remains of Coconut Fred hooking up a strange machine, granting him a coconut cyborg body, as Fred opens his red eyes open.

Dead Space

Director: Andres Muschetti
Composer: Benjamin Wallfisch
Genre: Sci-Fi Horror
Date: January 10th
Studio: Red Light Films
Format: Live-action, 2D
Budget: $60 million
Theaters: 3,349
MPAA Rating: R

Running Time: 105 minutes

Cast: Jeremy Renner (Isaac Clarke), Natalie Portman (Kendra Daniels), Jason Clarke (Zach Hammond), Karen Gillian (Nicole Johnston), Steven Ogg (Johnston), John Cho (Chen), Kyle Chandler (Dr. Terrence Kyne) and Viggo Mortensen (Captain Matthias)

Plot Summary: Based on the video game of the same name. A massive mining ship comes in contact with a mysterious alien artifact and loses contact with Earth. Engineer Isaac Clarke (Jeremy Renner) is sent on a repair mission that becomes a fight for survival as the floating vessel has become a complete bloodbath.

Plot:

The USG Ishimura (a ship designed for a new resource-gathering practice called "planetcracking") during the process of mining the planet of Aegis VII, sends out a distress signal to the Concordance Extraction Corporation (CEC); the CEC dispatches the USG Kellion to investigate. As the Kellion attempts to dock with the Ishimura, a malfunction occurs with the automatic docking and the Kellion is badly damaged; however, the crew lands safely and sets off to find the Ishimura's crew. It quickly becomes apparent that the Ishimura has been abandoned.

As they enter the flight lounge, Isaac Clarke (Jeremy Renner), the crew's engineer, enters a separate room to assess the Ishimura's damage reports. As he does so, the flight lounge locks down in quarantine and grotesque humanoids break into the lounge and attack the crew. Corporals Johnston (Steven Ogg) and Chen (John Cho) are killed, while the two survivors of the attack, Zach Hammond (Jason Clarke) and Kendra Daniels (Natalie Portman), flee and tell Isaac to run. Isaac, defenseless, is forced to run for his life through a hallway before escaping his pursuers through an elevator. Isaac manages to get a weapon and make contact through a window with Hammond and Kendra once again. Hammond recognizes that many of the ship's systems are failing, including the ships anti-asteroid defense system. The loss of this threatens the integrity of the ship due to a nearby asteroid belt. Hammond sends Clarke around the ship to fix the core systems in order to keep them alive. Hammond also promises he will help Isaac to find his girlfriend Nicole Brennan (Karen Gillian), a medical worker on the Ishimura, who sent Isaac a strange video, which was Isaac's sole motive for taking the mission: to visit her. After restoring USG Ishimura's tram system, Clarke returns to the flight lounge to repair the Kellion. Creatures attack the ship before he can even begin and it explodes, the wreckage plummeting to the bottom of the hangar bay.

During his treks, Clarke discovers various text and audio logs scattered throughout the ship and pieces together the events that transpired before his arrival. The ship's captain was actually an agent of the "Church of Unitology" — a large and influential religious cult — assigned to retrieve one of his religion's most deified relics, known as the "Red Marker", from Aegis VII. Aegis VII had been quarantined for undisclosed reasons by the Earth Government many years ago; however, CEC had disregarded the quarantine and performed a mineralogical analysis on the planet that revealed it to be extraordinarily rich in resources. While establishing a planetside colony to aid in the mineral extraction, CEC employees discovered the Red Marker, and Unitologists among the crew passed the clandestine information to the church. The Church of Unitology and the ship's captain then quickly replaced or won over many of the ranking officers (medical, science, etc.) of the Ishimura. With the upper echelon of the ship in Unitologist hands and the records of the mining operation already made confidential due to the Aegis VII quarantine, the Unitologists had the perfect opportunity to seize the marker and use it to discover the secrets of human creation, evolution, and purpose they believed it contained.

Soon after the Marker was extracted and brought to the Ishimura, a large portion of the civilians — first on the planet-side colony, then on the ship — suffered from extreme hysteria and paranoia brought on by violent hallucinations. The medical teams in each location screened for diseases and distributed sedatives, but the agitation of the crew could not be contained for long and the outbreak of paranoia evolved into mass homicidal and suicidal impulses. These phenomena were believed to be linked to proximity to the Marker, but the colonists had no idea how or why it was occurring.

Despite this, the hysteria was kept under control, and the planet crack commenced a week later. Immediately after planet crack, the colony's power went out and unknown organisms began ravaging the colony, infecting the bodies of the dead and turning them into "Necromorphs" - abominations that kill and infect dead bodies in order to spread the infestation. When reports of this reached the Ishimura Captain Matthias cut off all traffic and communications between the ship and the colony to prevent the infection from reaching the Ishimura. Dr. Terrence Kyne (Kyle Chandler), the Chief Science Officer, urged Captain Matthias (Viggo Mortensen) to halt the extraction and send out a distress signal. Because they are in a restricted system, the Captain refuses, and becomes more and more focused on delivering the Marker to the Church, even at the expense of his crew's safety. Dr. Kyne believes this decision is irrational, and that the Captain has buckled under the psychological pressure of his loyalties to the Church and CEC.

Under maritime law, Kyne relieves the captain of his duty, though Matthias refuses to comply, spouting angry fanatical comments of heresy. Dr. Kyne then tells the Captain to hold still and attempts to inject him with a sedative. Matthias struggles violently and is killed by Dr. Kyne in the scuffle as the syringe misses the captain's neck and is instead rammed through his eye socket. Dr. Kyne did not appear to want to kill the captain, and the death may have been a freak accident, but it may also have been a momentary loss of control as the presence of the Marker on the ship has been causing the same homicidal paranoia as was experienced on the colony. The infection then spreads to the Ishimura via a colony shuttle piloted by a survivor, who was unaware that a Necromorph had entered his shuttle prior to take off. The shuttle crashes into the docking bay, allowing the creatures to escape into the Ishimura ventilation system and begin killing and infecting the Ishimura's inhabitants. Shortly thereafter, all of the emergency shuttles and escape pods of the Ishimura are remotely launched - all of them empty.

Furthermore, the communications array becomes damaged either by the same saboteurs or by the creatures that are beginning to rampage through the ship. In an attempt that claims her life, a member of the Ishimura security team is able to launch a single general distress beacon, which is picked up by CEC who then dispatch the repair ship Kellion. Hours later, the distress signal is picked up by the EarthGov Military, which dispatches a special operations team to deal with the suspected outbreak and perform search and rescue. When the Kellion arrives, the Ishimura has almost completely fallen to the Necromorphs.

Though Hammond states that he is unaware of what the Marker's role in everything is, Daniels confides to Clarke that she believes Hammond is lying. Clarke would later encounter his girlfriend Nicole, though they are unable to meet directly. Nicole is seen to be behaving strangely.

With the critical systems repaired, the three are able to launch a beacon for rescue, attracting a nearby military ship, the USM Valor. However, the Valor, having picked up an escape pod launched by Hammond containing a Necromorph, becomes overrun with the creatures and crashes into the ship. Hammond then deduces — from the heavy military equipment he finds on board — that the Valor was actually assigned to destroy the Ishimura, suggesting that someone outside of Aegis VII knew of the alien threat.

The group thus decides that they must find a shuttle and escape while they can. Clarke and Hammond then retrieve the Valor's power core in order to repair an available shuttle, but Hammond is killed by a Necromorph in the process. The surviving Dr. Kyne later contacts Clarke and urges him to return the Marker to Aegis VII. He reveals in a video what the planetcrack caused: a large creature known as The Hive Mind, the creature that controls all of the Necromorphs, was allowed to escape the instant the planet was cracked and began infecting the colony. He believes that the Marker actually acted as an inhibitor, rendering The Hive Mind dormant as long as the Marker remained on the planet; The Hive Mind's dormancy would also cause all other Necromorphs to enter a dormant state. He concludes that the only way to stop the creatures for good is to return The Marker to the planet.

After being assisted by Clarke in loading the Marker onto the shuttle, Kyne is murdered by Daniels, who reveals the truth behind everything: she is a government operative ordered to retrieve the Marker for her superiors. She further reveals that the Marker is a reverse-engineered copy of another Marker found on Earth and was placed on Aegis VII by the government hundreds of years ago to have scientists study its effects. These scientists discovered the pattern covering the surface of the Marker is, in fact, the DNA code for Necromorph infection.

The newly created infection escaped and began to kill the doctors and transform them, and it wasn't long before the original colony fell, but the doctors were successful in editing the Marker into an inhibitor of the infection, and activating this new feature. With the doctors dead and the infection locked away, the government marked Aegis VII as off-limits and abandoned the planet. The planet cracking operation was, in fact a mission by CEC and the government to retrieve the valuable marker, which led up to the present events. She then leaves on the shuttle without Clarke, but Nicole arrives and is able to help him recall it, prompting Daniels to flee via an escape pod.

Clarke takes the shuttle with the Marker to the colony, and replaces it there; this pacifies The Hive Mind briefly, but also disrupts the gravity tethers holding a large portion of the planet several miles off the surface, threatening to destroy the colony. As Clarke attempts to escape, Daniels appears and takes the Marker back to the shuttle, once again removing the "dead space"-field pacifying The Hive Mind, and shows Clarke (through a fully recovered distress transmission) that Nicole actually committed suicide before they arrived on the Ishimura, and Clarke's visions of her had been the Marker's way of attempting to bring itself back to the planet, revealing that it is sentient in some way. Before she can leave, Daniels is killed by the gigantic Hive Mind, but Clarke is able to defeat it. Leaving the Marker behind, Clarke flies off in the shuttle just before the rock crashes into the planet, ravaging the surface of Aegis VII.

As he sets course away from Aegis VII, Nicole's suicide video plays, but is stopped by Clarke, who then simply stares off into space. He is suddenly attacked by what appears to be an apparition of Nicole in Necromorph form. The screen is suddenly covered with strange runes and Nicole screaming, which then cuts to black.

Citizen Welles

Director: Jay Roach

Composer: Theodore Shapiro

Genre: Biographical Drama

Date: September 11th

Studio: Alpha Pictures

Format: Live-action, 2D

Budget: $30 million

Theaters: 2,955

MPAA Rating: PG-13

Running Time: 103 minutes

Cast: Armie Hammer (Orson Welles), Patton Oswalt (Herman J. Mankiewicz), Jeffrey Tambor (William Randolph Hearst), Jeff Daniels (George J. Schaefer) and Marion Cotillard (Hedda Hopper)

Plot Summary: The story behind the production of Citizen Kane, Orson Welles' (Armie Hammer) classic masterpiece.

Plot:

After his successful radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds in 1938, Orson Welles (Armie Hammer) is lured to Hollywood by RKO Pictures studio head George J. Schaefer (Jeff Daniels), who's interested in producing for Welles. He sees Welles as having a gift for attracting mass attention. Welles is reluctant at first, only wanting to go to pay off his theatrical debts. But when he arrives at the studio in 1939, he becomes interested in making a film with Schaefer, who signs a contract with Welles allowing him to produce two films for the studio and giving him complete artistic control.

At first, Welles struggles to find a jumpstart for his first project. One night, Welles has a dinner with Herman J. Mankiewicz (Patton Oswalt), a notorious screenwriter in Hollywood. Mankiewicz talks to Welles about his social gatherings with William Randolph Hearst (Jeffrey Tambor), one of the most influential newspaper publishers in the United States and a former U.S. Representative from New York. According to Mankiewicz, Hearst viewed himself as a big, powerful figure who controlled the media. Mankiewicz was later forced out of Hearst's social circle, and he came to hate Hearst for forcing him out and for his pursuit of power. Welles realizes that this is the idea he's been looking for. He asks Mankiewicz to write him a screenplay about Hearst for his feature film. When he pitches the idea to Schaefer, Schaefer buys the idea and gives him $500,000 to produce the film. Mankiewicz and Welles send notes back and forth to each other, arguing, inventing and discarding.

The film, titled Citizen Kane, goes into production in the summer of 1940. Welles, director and producer of the film, works 16 to 18 hours a day to achieve his vision. Many members of RKO's board of governors don't like Welles or the control that Schaefer's contract gave him. Throughout production, several spies arrive on set to report what they saw to the executives.

After the film completes production, a rough cut premieres in January 1941. Gossip columnist Hedda Hopper (Marion Cotillard) appears uninvited and lambasts the film in her review, and ties Hearst to Welles' Charles Foster Kane. When he learns about the unflattering parallels between Kane and himself, Hearst is enraged, banning any advertising, reviewing, or mentioning of it in his papers, along with libeling Welles. Welles decides to wage a war against Hearst, lobbying the film for its artistic work. However, movie theaters begin to reject Citizen Kane under pressure from Hearst. Welles becomes enraged at Hearst for trying to suppress his work. In a chance encounter in an elevator, Welles meets Hearst. Welles asks Hearst if he'd like to attend the opening, but Hearst doesn't reply back. Welles then says, "Charles Foster Kane would've said 'yes.'"

Citizen Kane premieres in May of 1941. When Welles goes to see it in Chicago, there's hardly anyone else in the theater. The film is a box office disappointment, and Welles is sad that people weren't able to experience his vision. However, critics begin to praise the film, some calling it a technically and artistically superior film. That year, the film wins Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards.

In the film's epilogue, we learn that over the decade, Citizen Kane becomes forgotten, but is re-evaluated in the 1950s after it becomes a success on television. Now, Citizen Kane is considered one of the greatest films of all time.

Spoiler

We open on the open road as we see a lone bunny hop on by. Some kid movie like music plays and just as the bunny is about to sing, a truck wheel runs it over. We then cut to the truck speeding down the highway. Earl, a pale men with a charmingly sloppy combover and slightly large ears asking if they hit something. Duke, a buff man in a sleeveless jacket and trucker hat, downing a beer, denies it. Duke offers his best friend a beer, earning an annoyed glance from Earl, who takes it anyway despite his annoyance. Earl reminds Duke that vampire can’t get drunk, longing for a day of alcohol that effects vampires which spirals into a depressed speech, only to pull out a joint and ignites it with his lighter. Duke tells Earl he’s got to start to lighten up and find something that makes him happy. Earl snarks like Duke and Beer, Duke says yes but something perhaps a bit more healthy, commenting if he’s sad high, he’d be too much of a sad drunk, Duke then punches him in the shoulder for what he calls, the smartass comment. Earl rubs his shoulder in pain, and notices the highway they once were seems deserted. Earl asks Duke how much gas they got left, and Duke replies they got enough. The two drive through a town called Rockwood, a normal small town that is somewhat illuminated by the night sky despite the lack of light from the building. The truck sputters and wheezes and runs out of gas in front of a diner called Gil’s All Night Diner. Earl chastises Duke for not getting gas, calling him a drunk dumbass and the two start arguing like an old married couple. The two’s argument stops as Duke’s stomach growls. Duke says he’ll continue the argument later as he’s needs to eat. Duke asks Earl if he’s hungry but Earl says he already a quart of drank cow’s blood yesterday, so he’s good for a while. The two walk inside the diner to see it empty for all but a simple fat waitress, handing them two menus. The waitress introduces herself as Loretta, and asks for their orders. Duke orders the chili, cornbread and cheese fries and Earl declines to order anything. Loretta goes back into the kitchen to make Duke’s food. The two monsters then have a humorous conversation about their plans to travel the world. Moments later, Loretta returns with the food, while Duke proceeds to eat. Earl’s nose twitches in disgust as if he smell something rotten, Duke explains he swears it wasn’t him this time and takes a bite of the chili, later chugging the bowl. Holding his nose, Earl asks how’s the chili and Duke explains it’s spicy, savory and garlicky. Earl realizes it was the garlic that was making him noxious. Duke jokingly offers him a bowl but suddenly, a group of zombies burst inside the diner. Loretta, walks back in and sighs annoyed grabs her double barrreled shotgun and begins shooting at the zombies, delivering headshot after headshot but eventually runs out of bullets and the zombies swarm in. Earl tells Loretta to stay calm and they’ve got this.

Duke grabs a skillet nearby and Earl, armed with steak knives and forks, charge at the zombies. Duke bashes the zombies heads in with the skillet, and delivering a few good punches as well. A zombie is about to attack Loretta but Duke throws the pan straight at the zombie, knocking off it’s head into a pot of boiling water, melting as it hits the water. Earl uses the forks and knives to stab the zombies, luring them away from Loretta into the kitchen. Earl tosses oil on one of them and shoves the zombie in the oven, causing it to combust. Earl then pushes a fridge on a group of three, squashing them. 8 more jump inside the kitchen, and grabbing a meat cleaver to defend himself Earl, spins around chops off the torsos of five of them, cutting them in half, not before kicking their heads in the freezer, freezing them solid. Two leap at Earl getting a few good hits in but Earl taking it, throws a lone apple in the kitchen creating a Pee Wee Herman style, injuring the zombies (we see a zombie penis fly off) and finally decapitating them with the kitchen fan. Earl lets out a sigh of fatigue but a zombie does a surprise attack putting him in a chokehold, and although Earl doesn’t need to breathe, it’s still uncomfortable. More zombies swarm in cornering Earl, who screams for Duke to help. Duke looking outside the window at the moon, as it’s shrouded with clouds telling him to wait for it, humorously while snapping a zombies neck, and flinging glass plates at the rest. Loretta, using the discarded pan to defend herself asks for what. The clouds break away showing a full moon and Duke lets out a cocky smile saying it’s showtime. Duke then turns into a werewolf, complete with razor sharp teeth and claws all while wearing his clothes which are shredded due the transformation and tears through the zombies one by one in gruesome and creative ways, finally getting to Earl and killing the zombies about to hurt his friend.

Duke then asks if Loretta has any dessert or something, explaining that he could go for some food. Loretta asks if they’re up to any funny business, having reloaded her shotgun, points the gun at their face. Earl assures her they haven’t killed a person in centuries (Duke then asks what about the trucker a week ago but Earl reminds him the trucker was an asshole) assures Loretta they mean no harm and the gun won’t do much to either off them. Loretta, seeing the wisdom of Earl’s words, laid her shotgun on the floor. Loretta offers them a slice of apple pie which Earl declines. Duke asks how often things like this happen, and Loretta sighs really it happens every couple of weeks but it’s only three, maybe four zombies. Earl asks does she know where they’re coming from, or if she’s tried anything about it. Loretta reveals no but she reckons it’s from the graveyard, but points out there’s only 100 or so graves, Loretta explains that this year, counting today she’s killed 181 and that no one’s been buried there for years. Both Duke and Earl think that’s odd to say the least. Loretta explains she hired a priest to try to help but even then she just assumed she could wait it out. Duke takes a bite of the apple pie, Loretta asks if he likes it, which is hard to determine by Duke’s snout. Earl sees Duke’s tail wagging and assuming it’s a yes. Loretta, then has an idea, if either of them is looking for work. Duke says if she’s talking about the zombie problem they’ll help. Loretta says no not that, she wanted their help in moving a gas line for the stove but offers the two of them $100 and gas. Earl asks for the two of them to be excused for a bit. After a bit of humorous banter while arguing and a few insults, Earl is still reluctant but Duke assures him it’s another adventure besides they’re immortal and they have all the time in the world to do whatever they wants, besides Earl needs to loosen up more. Earl lets out a reluctant sigh and agrees. Loretta then thanks the two, and offers more apple pie much to Duke’s delight.

Meanwhile, at an old barn, Tammy, a goth young woman looking at a fire which showed the events of earlier. Angry, she lets out a barrage of swears for the failure of her zombies. We then see Chad, a dumb, horny loyal follower enter the room. Chad asks Tammy what will they do now. Tammy ignore him and flatly says that’s not her name. Chad quickly corrects himself and calls her Mistress Lilith, while attempting to flirt. Annoyed, Tammy says she need times to think first. Chad asks if they’re going to bone, and Tammy snarls at him to do it himself. Chad says he’s tired of doing it himself, and Tammy reluctantly goes ahead with it, mainly due to maintain Chad’s loyalty and him being her only follower.

We then cut back to the diner. Loretta has fixed up the storeroom for Earl and Duke to stay (Loretta says surprisingly the storeroom is better than the local motel) with some blankets, pillows and a little lamp. Loretta says she doesn’t want anything indecent in her restaurant (drinking, smoking, and also whatever supernatural activities they need to do (staring at Earl specifically)). Earl pulls out a coffin shaped trunk and asks Duke to pass him a pillow. (Duke says what’s wrong with his pillow and Earl complains it’s too flat. Duke snarks what can he do, and Earl replies he’s too tired to deal with his shit, only to get a pillow hurled right at his face. Earl thanks Duke sarcastically and vice versa.).

The next day, Duke and Loretta clean up the mess from last night (Loretta jokes out of all things, why haven’t the zombies learned to use a door, pointing out some animals are smart enough.). The tough sheriff, Marshall Kopp, who came to investigate her latest incident. Loretta also introduces Kopp to Duke, after some initial hostility. Kopp grabs a soda and leaves as Duke and Loretta carried the zombie body parts into the truck and drive the opposite direction to a local crematorium to meet Red, the curmudgeonly owner and his unfriendly pit bulls. Red is impressed by Duke’s way with animals as his pit bulls who hate everyone, love him

Later the night, Duke wakes up Earl, after the latter has much reluctance to wake up, Duke shakes the coffin. Duke then hands Earl a jar of red liquid, which he reveals is hamburger juice that he had Loretta squeezed off. Earl honestly thanks Duke but reminds him, it must be warm fresh blood to offer substance. Duke reveals there’s a cow farm a few miles away but also warns him not to have another Tulsa incident but Earl claims it wasn’t his fault that the religious nuts were armed, but Duke reminds him if he wasn’t their Earl would be dead. Duke says after that Earl needs to check the cemetery, much to Earl’s chargin. Duke reminds he does the day work so Earl does the night work and tells Earl not to be such a pussy. Earl drinks the juice to be kind and runs off to the farm and drains just enough blood from the cow to keep it alive, and flies off to the cemetery.  Earl investigates to see that the zombies dig their way out and then bumps into a ghost woman. Earl attempts to talk the woman, who is surprised someone can see her and introduces herself as Cathy. Cathy asks is he like one of those kids who saw the dead that grew up, but Earl reveals he’s a vampire. Cathy asks where’s the cape and Earl says vampire stopped wearing capes in the 1930s due to airplanes. Cathy reveals she was the last person buried, and Earl says the last person buried stays behind to watch the graveyard and unfortunately she’s stuck there for now. Earl comforts Cathy and she reveals the zombies came out a hole nearby but with no grave. Earl quickly realizes that black magic is it work and leaves. Cathy asks if Earl will come back tomorrow and Earl reluctantly agrees, much to Cathy’s delight.

Back at the diner, while Loretta is serving some customers, Earl asks about the situation, deducing that someone or some force wants the diner, noting the zombies don’t attack others unless provoked or her. Loretta asks what to do and should she try exorcising the diner, which Earl says it could work but he doubts it, and asks does strange stuff like this happen or with the diner and cemetery. Loretta reveals the owner, Gil Wilson disappeared five years ago and no one find anything, and guesses his vanishing could’ve had to do with it. Duke enters the room to make himself a sandwich before shoving it into his mouth. Duke asks Earl the progress and Earl recaps everything. Tammy and Chad enter and are revealed to be usuals here and Loretta introduces them to Earl and Duke. Something doesn’t seem right to Earl but he can’t put his finger on. Tammy starts flirting with Earl who attempts to ignore her advances much to Chad’s annoyance. Tammy and Chad then get their food and go saying goodbye to the two. As soon as they lead, Tammy quickly deduces the two are supernatural, Earl being the vampire and Duke the werewolf while Chad is too busy flexing and admiring his physique to listen. Tammy mumbles to herself, swearing Chad is getting sacrificed first if needed but has other plans to slow the two down.

As the sun begins to rise, Earl gets ready for bed and Duke gets ready to work. Earl said that Tammy wanted him. Duke asked if it was a vampire thing. Earl is offended saying while it’s true, asks if women don’t find him attractive. Duke jokes cousins don’t count which causes Earl to spiral into a lecture about stereotypical jokes. Earl then says something wasn’t right about Tammy, and that he could sense. Duke then gets to work to lay in a new grease pipe while Loretta clumsily attempts to flirt with Duke, who rebuffs her advances. Red and his friend Walter walk in asking for Duke’s help with a problem due to his way with animals.

The three head to Walter’s farm to see a bunch of pale thinly cows, and Duke immediately reveals the cows have been zombified. Walter asks what to do and Duke says they should put them done before they turn for flesh to eat. Red asks how long do they have, and Duke says about now as the three are surrounded by a heard of zombie cows. Seeing the truck nearby, Duke (knowing he can’t turn into a werewolf until nighttime) grabs a stone and smashes a cow’s brains in. Walter and Duke fight through the zombies the best they can but Walter gets bit. Duke punches a zombie cow in the face only to lose a few fingers. The three manage to get away thanks to Betty, Walter’s dog scares them away. The three escape with Betty and drive away, Red asks if Duke is okay, which he assures he will be. Walter asks will he turns into a zombie, but Duke says as long as he eats a lot of salt these next few days he’ll be fine.

Later in the afternoon, we see Tammy at her house, which is surprisingly very nice for a young woman her age and lavish as well, relaxing reading in her necronomicon while watching TV but heard a honking noise. Tammy waits for Chad to pick her up in a sports car. Tammy yells at Chad as she told him to pick up the truck but Chad said his truck was in the shop but he borrowed his friends car. Tammy sighs and the two drive to McAllister Fields, the largest cemetery in the county. Tammy ask if he has the bolt cutters and Chad says he forgot but he has his muscles. Tammy berates Chad but he insists he can make it work. After the amusing attempts of Chad trying to get the door lock open, Tammy whips out the Necronomicon and casts a spell to open the gate. Chad asks Tammy what they’re here for and Tammy says they need bodies for something special. Chad refuses at first but Tammy seduces him to get him to go along with it. Chad hauls five bodies but one body misses a leg due to Chad’s incompetence and puts it in the car. The two drive back to the barn only to be stopped by Marshall Kopp. Kopp noticing something suspicious checks the trunk to see the bodies (Chad shouts Tammy made him do it) but before he can arrest them, Tammy using a magic spell does a Jedi mind trick knock off to stop him and let them go. Tammy slaps Chad for his betrayal and the two drive back and after a bit of silence, Chad asks why doesnt she use the magic on Loretta. Clenching her teeth, Tammy reveals the magic only works on certain people and for a short time. After dropping Tammy and the bodies off in her freezer off, Chad apologizes for earlier but Tammy points to the door.

Meanwhile, back at the diner, Duke is resting (his fingers are like baby fingers) and eating some chili, healing from his wounds. Earl wakes up and heads to the kitchen. Duke points that his teeth are out (vampire equivalent of morning wood) as Earl quickly retracts them. Earl asks Duke what happened to his fingers, and Duke explains the zombie cow incident, which Earl mocks him about. Duke then stabs a spoon in Earl’s gut, who replies is that all Duke has got, and he expected worse until he feels a burning sensation. Duke snarks he licked the spoon as Earl panics, not before Duke pulls the spoon out of his gut. Earl comments Duke loses a few fingers and his sense of humor too. Earl asks how many cows were zombified, and Duke replies the whole heard was and that it may be contagious but he burned the corpses but safe but guess it doesn’t seem to be working. Earl asks to use Loretta’s phone to contact Hector, a warlock friend in El Paso both of them know. Loretta apologizes for her actions yesterday to Duke, who accepts the apology, but quickly lies that he can’t be physical. Earl gets off the phone with Hector, who has some ideas but Earl has some more investigating to do. Earl also learned appearantly Duke getting eaten alive would’ve killed him.

Earl arrives at the cemetery and meets up with Cathy, who’s excited to see him back but Earl replies he needs to check more things out. Earl sees a cacti nearby, revealing although he’s looking for a tree, it’ll do and starts digging. Cathy asks if it is still about the zombies and Earl says he’s looking for a mojo bag, a bag filled with strange magical items. Cathy asks what’s it like being a vampire, which Earl replies it’s not as different as a human. Cathy then asks about immortality and mirrors which Earl says he doesn’t age and he can’t see his reflection but his clothes. Cathy is about to ask more questions but Earl says everything, garlic, sunlight, decapitation and roasted can kill him, crosses and holy water don’t do “jack shit” in his words, a stake in the heart doesn’t kill him but makes him immobile, he does drink blood, he can enter without being invited along with mesmerizing people, and ask if there’s anything else. Cathy says no and apologizes for bothering him. Earl continues digging and apologizes for his rudeness since he was stabbed earlier. Earl then digs up the bag which is a strange purse filled with magical items. Cathy asks if this is what it’s about, revealing she saw who buried it earlier. Earl asks does she know who it was and when it was buried. Cathy says he wasn’t familiar but he was a young adult, 24-25 is her guess but she doesn’t know when. Earl thanks her and gets ready to leave. Cathy asks if he can stay longer but Earl says he has work to do. Cathy asks can she at least get one more favor, which Earl agrees. Cathy asks for a handshake which Earl agrees to. The two shake hands for a good minute but they both awkwardly let go. Cathy says it’s been so long since she’s touch one she forgot what it felt like or it’d be so long. Earl apologizes awkwardly but says he’ll come back tomorrow much to Cathy’s surprise and delight who surprises him with a hug. Cathy then let go with a ghostly blush on her face, saying she’ll see him tomorrow then. Earl, looking down at his shuffling feet agrees.

Earl returns back to the diner with the bag to show Loretta and Duke. Loretta notices one of her salt shaker in there and realizes that the zombies know to come to the dinner. Duke then finds a scrap of paper with an invocation in Pig Latin. Earl says it should be the last they see of the zombies and that the cows were infected by a magical runoff. Duke warns it’s not over yet saying that they still need to figure out whose behind it, saying the person behind this knows serious black magic. Earl gasps and realizes it might be a disciple of the Old Gods, much to Loretta’s confusion. Earl explains they make Satan look like a mere baby compared to them. Duke isn’t surprised explains that cults normally appear in small areas, explaining it’s the folks with time to kill to watch out for. Earl then says it happens all the time, advising never pickup hitchhikers from New Mexico, as there is a 50/50 chance you’ll wind up a sacrifice. Loretta believes that’s bullshit but Duke confirmed it happen to Earl twice throughout their travels. Loretta asks does it have anything to do with Gil’s disappearance which Earl believes is very possible. Loretta asks how can they find the cultists. Duke says that cultists tend to act like normal everyday people to avoid suspicious and asks if she knows Rockwood better than either of them. Loretta says she has no idea on who it could be.

The next morning, Sheriff Kopp comes back to the diner to see Duke eating breakfast. Kopp asks him a few questions about the zombie cow incident and his missing fingers,  but Duke tries to change the subject or trying to give away as little as possible. Duke then decides to cut to the chase and explains he’s a werewolf. Kopp said he knew it much to Duke’s surprise. Kopp says paranormal shit happens often in Rockwood, naming vampire turkeys, a possessed priest’s daughter and a sentient scarecrow. When Loretta arrives, Kopp explains he came to shut the place down for now but Loretta assures him now that they have the mojo bag, the zombies won’t come. Loretta ands him the bag and Kopp is annoyed that another cult is here. Duke snarks they need a movie theater, Kopp jokes he’s been trying to a get a swimming pool for years. Kopp gives Loretta one more chance or he’ll close the diner down. Kopp buys a soda and leaves.

Duke and Loretta start cleaning and Loretta asks how did he become a werewolf. Duke explains he killed one and that the whole biting thing is bullshit. Duke further explains through flashbacks, that he ran over one by accident while driving home, squashing its head like a pancake, and by the time he went to check, the body went back into human form and to avoid suspicion he buried it, because vehicular man slaughter is a crime. Loretta asks how did he know. Duke then explains the next full moon he was at a bar and after a bad bar fight with a biker involving a game of pool and although he can change form anytime he wants to, due to the full moon, he transformed into a werewolf, and luckily he was so scared he ran off himself before he could hurt someone. After that he spent the next few months on the road, thinking he needed to be alone not to kill until he say a guy alone in the woods. Deciding to follow his monster instincts, he chased the guy and tore him open. But after gnawing on his intestines he thought to himself is this how live his life until his surprise after gagging, the guy stuff his organs back into place. The guy glares at him asking his help to find his pancreas, and Duke with a smile on his face while telling it explains the man was Earl, and that’s how they first met, and ever since then Earl helped him cope with his new life, showing he didn’t have to be a monster, remarking he saved his life. Loretta asks is that why the two are so close. Duke says sort of admitting that Earl isn’t easy to get along with and is kind of an ass but after spending time with him, he’s a decent guy and since both of them are monsters, it’s best for safety in numbers.

Plot Summary: A filmed version of the Broadway show, recorded in April 2018.

Plot:

Patchy the Pirate, SpongeBob's number one fan, sits on the stage. He reveals he has traveled from Encino, California to catch the musical. Two security guards tell Patchy to leave, as the show is about to begin. Patchy objects, but gets kicked out as Patchy claims he is a victim of pirate discrimination and sings a protest chant. One of the guards apologizes, then tells the audience to enjoy the show.

SpongeBob SquarePants awakens and welcomes the day with his pet snail, Gary ("Bikini Bottom Day"). He greets various friends in his hometown of Bikini Bottom — including his best friend Patrick, his neighbor Squidward, and his friend Sandy Cheeks — as he walks to the Krusty Krab restaurant. At work, his boss Mr. Krabs tells his daughter Pearl that she will manage the restaurant one day. With Pearl uninterested, SpongeBob hints his desire of being the manager. Mr. Krabs laughs at the idea, telling SpongeBob he is "just a simple sponge"("Bikini Bottom Day Reprise 1"). Then, a violent tremor suddenly rocks the entire town.

A news report reveals that the tremor was caused by a nearby volcano that will erupt ("No Control"). SpongeBob cheers up an upset Patrick by reiterating that they are best friends forever ("BFF"). With the town in a panic over the impending doom, married villains Plankton and Karen try to convince the citizens to enter an escape pod that ensures safety. But, the two have a secret scheme planned as they will hypnotize the citizens in the pod into liking the chum that they serve at their restaurant, the Chum Bucket ("When the Going Gets Tough"). The townspeople, unknowingly, support this idea and decide to hold a last-minute music concert to raise money. Squidward's idea of his one-man show is immediately shut down. Instead, Pearl suggests that the famous rock band, the Electric Skates, play at the concert. Everyone agrees and Squidward is named manager of the event.

SpongeBob, however, is against the idea of leaving town and believes the citizens should save Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob thinks back on Mr. Krabs' words from earlier and wonders if he could save the town ("Just a Simple Sponge"). He goes to Patrick and Sandy for help. Mr. Krabs sees the upcoming disaster as a money-making opportunity, holding an "apocalypse sale". Pearl worries about her father's greed, believing that it overshadows his care for her ("Daddy Knows Best").

Meanwhile, SpongeBob convinces Patrick and Sandy to team up, climb the volcano, and stop it from erupting with an invention Sandy will build. The friends are determined to succeed ("Hero Is My Middle Name"). Before they start their plan, a group of cultist sardines appear. They found wisdom in Patrick's thoughts at the town meeting and decide to make him their new leader ("Super Star Sea Savior"). Patrick likes the idea and decides to back out of SpongeBob's plan so that he can bask in self-glory, angering SpongeBob. The two fight and end their "BFF" status. After Patrick leaves, Sandy reminds SpongeBob that things are bound to be okay. The entire company reveals their personal thoughts and feelings about the impending disaster ("Tomorrow Is").

The curtain falls and Patchy yells about him not wanting to wait for an intermission. He then winks at the camera and says lucky for him he can skip it. He then tells the audience that pirates are persecuted by others because of stereotypes ("Poor Pirates"). Security again intervenes to chase Patchy away. SpongeBob wakes up and greets a new day: the day when the volcano is expected to erupt ("Bikini Bottom Day Reprise 2"). Bikini Bottom has fallen into anarchy and chaos: the mayor has employed a dictatorship over the people and an angry mob has started to hunt down Sandy, thinking her science is the cause for the volcano's impending eruption. Sandy hides from the mob and shows SpongeBob her invention, the Eruptor Interrupter. They plan to throw it inside the volcano and save the town.

Back in Bikini Bottom, Plankton worries Sandy and Spongebob will successfully climb up the mountain and save the town, but Karen tells him that she found his avalanche maker. She says they can use it to create an avalanche that Spongebob and Sandy won’t survive. The Electric Skates finally arrive ("Bikini Bottom Boogie"). Squidward asks if he can perform with them as an opening act. The band will only allow it if Squidward buys every item on a long shopping list. Meanwhile, SpongeBob and Sandy make their way up the volcano with great difficulty. Sandy tries to lift their spirits by reminding them of what they have learned in karate class about never giving up ("Chop to the Top"). SpongeBob cannot help but think of how he misses Patrick and wishes he was there to help them. In Bikini Bottom, Patrick finds life as a guru unexciting and misses SpongeBob as well, prompting him to leave his followers behind to help SpongeBob ("(I Guess) I Miss You").

Squidward obtains all but one of the items on the Electric Skates' list, so the band refuses to let him perform despite his pleas, calling him a "loser" in the process. Their use of this word causes Squidward constantly called a loser in childhood to snap back at the band in anger; The band quits. Now alone, Squidward insists that he is not a loser and performs a song with a tap dance number and back-up chorus in his imagination ("I'm Not a Loser"). Back on the mountain, Plankton and Karen use the avalanche maker to make the avalanche. SpongeBob starts to fall when Patrick saves him with the jetpack Sandy invented. The two reaffirm their friendship and follow Sandy to the summit of the mountain. When they reach the top, neither Sandy nor Patrick are able to reach the rim where they need to throw the device in. They turn to SpongeBob, who doubts his skills ("Just a Simple Sponge Reprise"). They remind him that he is the only one who can squeeze through tight areas and that his optimism has gotten them this far. With new determination, SpongeBob throws the Eruptor Interrupter in. They head back to Bikini Bottom and see if their plan worked.

Due to the band being gone, there will be no concert or escape pod, which causes anarchy. SpongeBob tries to calm everyone down, insisting that whatever happens, they have each other ("Best Day Ever"). When the time comes for the volcano to erupt, everyone braces for their deaths. The time passes without an eruption, signaling that the Eruptor Interrupter has worked. With Bikini Bottom safe, everyone decides that they should celebrate by having a new concert with Pearl and Squidward being the leads. Patchy descends from above on a rope, having finally managed to sneak into the show, making the cast reluctantly agree to let him be a part of the finale ("Bikini Bottom Day Reprise 3").

During the curtain call and credits, the cast performs one last song.("SpongeBob Squarepants Theme Song")

@Blankments I don't think that's workable... I know it's not EXACTLY a movie, but SpongeBob has had a feature film in the last five years, so his rights aren't available in-game.

see I'm well-aware of this. If the rights WERE available in game, I would've straight up-adapted the musical. What you have there is a filler film, a filmed Broadway production that will be likely to make $10M at best. I can't sequelize it, the show was a bomb on Broadway, it's a clear one-off meant to launch a line of filmed Broadway show fillers from me. Perhaps more people are against it, but when I mentioned the idea to @Spagheditary, he said he didn't find anything wrong with the rights issues if it was just a filmed show. Perhaps you'd like to debate this more, but I feel as tho it should be fine

Plot Summary:

An adaptation of the 1985 cartoon of the same name.

Spoiler

The planet Thundera is in crisis. For decades a war has raged between its dominant species, a race of cat-like humanoids, and an army of mutant aliens from the planet Plun-Darr. The mutants seek not only to conquer the planet, but to obtain the legendary Sword of Omens, a powerful magic sword with an ancient, mystical crystal, the Eye of Thundera, embedded in its hilt. The war has ravaged the planet, and the ruling nobles of the planet - the ThunderCats, as they are called - have made a grave mistake. They developed geothermal weapons that used energy from the planet's core, and while they were quite effective, they set in motion an irreversible chain reaction that ultimately doomed their planet, forcing them all to evacuate.

The entire population of Thundera is loaded into spaceships to evacuate to a new world, but a sudden, massive attack from the aliens causes the accelerated destruction of the planet. Thundera begins self-destructing, volcanic eruptions thousands of miles across blasting off chunks of the planet and costing countless lives. A fleet of spaceships manages to take off before the final destruction of the planet, including the flagship carrying the ThunderCats - the king and queen, their nine-year-old son Lion-O, and the other surviving members of the nobility. The fleet is ambushed by the alien warships, with many of the Thunderan craft destroyed. A handful of ships escape, including the flagship, but are badly damaged, losing communication and guidance, drifting apart into space. Most of the occupants of the flagship - including the king and queen - are killed, and the survivors are trapped in a small section around the ship's bridge that is relatively undamaged and still livable.

The flagship drifts through space for ten years before finally crash-landing on a distant planet. The only remaining survivors are the young king Lion-O (Nick Robinson), now nineteen; the royal scientist Tygra (Joel Kinnaman), the pilot and military general Panthro (Anthony Mackie), and the cleric Cheetara (Elizabeth Olsen). Because the war had been raging on their planet for so long, all of them were trained as warriors in addition to their "normal" jobs. This is true even of Lion-O, who was raised from birth to wield the Sword of Omens and its mysterious power, depriving him of a childhood. That, plus the loss of his parents and the fact he's spent most of his life on a broken spaceship, has left him a bit stunted - he's athletic and fierce, highly skilled as a warrior, but lacking in social graces and royal demeanor especially.

The wreck of the flagship is quickly discovered by local humanoid inhabitants of many races - sheep-like Bolkins, pig-like Tabbuts, and the aptly-named Fishmen. They are, thankfully, friendly - though at first a bit frightened by the strange new arrivals. The magical power of the Eye of Thundera allows the ThunderCats to speak the local language and communicate. The natives say this planet is called Third Earth - there were first and second Earths, eons ago, lost to history. The ThunderCats explain a bit about themselves, and about the Sword of Omens, and the natives express hope that perhaps these newcomers can help liberate them. Third Earth, they say, is ruled by an undead sorcerer in league with ancient spirits of evil - the fearsome Mumm-Ra (Idris Elba).

As if summoned, an enormous, flying black pyramid appears over the horizon, coming to inspect the landing site. Lion-O wants to rush into battle, but the other ThunderCats convince him otherwise. They hide while the natives go running, but as the pyramid lands, Mumm-Ra and his army of also-aptly-named Jackalmen emerge and capture many of the native people. They are tortured and interrogated for information on the crashed ship, as Mumm-Ra can sense an artifact of great power nearby. Eventually, the captives reveal the existence of the ThunderCats and the existence of the Sword of Omens.

Mumm-Ra sends his army on a campaign of terror, searching the area for the ThunderCats, razing villages and forests. The ThunderCats are split on what to do. Tygra and Panthro think that Lion-O is not ready to wield the Sword of Omens in such a serious situation, and recommend remaining hidden, biding their time and training, developing a strategy. Cheetara has the psychic sense that if they wait too long, the entire planet could be destroyed, just like their own home was. Ultimately, Lion-O leaves the debate behind and has an "I am Spartacus" moment, revealing himself to the Jackalmen during one of their raids without the other ThunderCats present, because he doesn't want the responsibility of putting them in danger.

While Lion-O is able to use the Sword of Omens and his combat skills to defeat the Jackalmen and save a village from being destroyed, Mumm-Ra himself, energized by the dark magic of the ancient spirits, comes to confront him. There is a great battle of magic, but despite the enormous power of the sword, Lion-O is too inexperienced to use it to its full potential. Mumm-Ra defeats him, but before he can kill him, the voices of the evil ancient spirits stop the undead despot. They sense the connection between Lion-O and the sword, and realize that if Lion-O is killed the power will be lost. Instead, Mumm-Ra takes the young king captive in the black pyramid.

The other ThunderCats arrive too late, watching as the black pyramid departs with Lion-O. The villagers inform them of what happened, and help them sneak aboard the evil vessel. While the Third Earth natives battle the Jackalmen guards, the ThunderCats make their way to the inner chambers of the black pyramid - Cheetara scouting ahead with her super-speed and sixth sense. Mumm-Ra is in the middle of a ceremony to transfer the bond with the Sword of Omens from Lion-O to him. Lion-O, held in captivity, is under a spell in which he is stuck in a dream of Thundera, still intact, with his parents alive and ruling, reminding him he needs more training to take the throne. The ThunderCats free Lion-O and confront Mumm-Ra, but he's able to use at least some of the sword's power with the ceremony half-finished. The ThunderCats and Mumm-Ra battle to a standstill, Lion-O trying to reclaim the Sword of Omens only to be badly injured by a curse Mumm-Ra has placed upon it.

Ultimately, Cheetara realizes the curse only works because Lion-O does not fully believe he deserves the sword and its power, or the title of king. He is able to overcome it when she points out how, while he may not yet have the wisdom or experience of his ancestors, his heart is in the right place and his willingness to put himself in danger to protect his friends and the Third Earth natives proves it. As the curse is broken, the ritual is undone, and Lion-O regains full control of the Sword of Omens' power. That is enough to tilt the battle in the ThunderCats' favor. As Mumm-Ra realizes he is fighting a losing battle, he summons more power from the ancient spirits to banish the heroes from the pyramid, teleporting them back outside and preventing them from re-entering with a magical barrier. He swears the Sword of Omens will still be his, and that unless Lion-O surrenders it, he will wage a campaign of misery and destruction all over the planet.

Representatives from all the native Third Earth races meet with the ThunderCats and declare their allegiance with and loyalty to Lion-O in the war to come. Though Lion-O is still anxious about his role as a leader, he has come to accept it and learned to trust his allies and friends as they trust in him, not trying to do everything himself. With the help of the natives, the ThunderCats begin constructing a watchtower to serve as their home and base, while Tygra works on a transmitter he hopes may guide other survivors from Thundera to Third Earth. The war has just begun, unless this movie bombs!

The kids spend the days doing a bunch of fun stuff (Donny participates in an ice cream eating contest and wins a pet lizard, sneaking into an R rated horror movie suggested by Roark (the movie is not shown but it shows their humorously horrified facial expressions except for Phil, ironically), pranking some local teen bullies, helping Phil get with his crush which succeeds, having tons of fun at an amusement park, printing their names in drying cement, and skating down Devil’s Peak the tallest most dangerous mountain in town, where no kid has came back from, with only minor scraps).
