While plot details are being kept under wraps, sources describe the project as a “secret slasher film.” A24 is on board to finance and produce the project. While deals for Stenberg and Bakalova recently closed, A24 quietly had been been packaging the project over the past several months waiting for schedules to come together with cast that has become incredibly busy in recent months.

A24 heads into the slasher movie arena with their upcoming film Bodies Bodies Bodies, and we’ve got a first look this week ahead of the film’s premiere at the upcoming SXSW 2022.

 

In the A24 slasher, “When a group of rich 20-somethings plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion, a party game turns deadly in this fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.”

 

The cast for A24’s upcoming slasher movie includes Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Pete Davidson, Rachel Sennott, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, and Lee Pace.

 

Halina Reijn directed Bodies Bodies Bodies for A24, which was written by Kristen Roupenian, Sarah Delappe, Chloe Okuno (V/H/S/94, Watcher), Joshua Sharp, and Aaron Jackson.

 

David Hinojosa, Ali Herting, Lara Costa-Calzado, and Tatiana Bears produced.

 

The 29th edition of the SXSW Film Festival is returning to Austin, Texas from March 11-20 with a jam-packed lineup that’s brimming with horror goodies.

Met Amandla Stenberg this weekend at Wondercon. She wrote a comic book which has been optioned by HBO, was at the booth along with the author. Didn't seem like people recognize her yet, the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld had a huge line to meet him and not many knew of Amandla.

That's interesting because she has had many leading roles in films. Everything Everything, The Darkest Minds, The Hate U Give. She's was kind of pigeon-hold in mediocre YA adaptions in her late teens and early 20s but She's very talented. Definitely the most accomplished out of this whole cast. And accomplished that without using her personal relationships with famous people to attract headlines   🥷.

 

She's been the cast as the lead in an upcoming new Star Wars show so maybe that will help her finally break out.
