The Menu, Anya Taylor-Joy

Quote

Mark Mylod’s dark comedy The Menu will be available for moviegoer consumption on November 18 in theaters, Searchlight said Tuesday.

In the Seth Reiss-scripted movie, a couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) travel to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises. Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light, Reed Birney, Paul Adelstein, Aimee Carrero, Arturo Castto, Mart St. Cyr, Rob Yan and John Leguizamo also star.

Is this an oscar player?

Doesn't sound like it based on the premise. Might be a Golden Globes play if they weren't still considered persona non grata to most of the industry. Anya's gonna be everywhere this holiday season between this, Canterbury Glass, and Mario.

What the hell is Disney waiting fo announce the others Searchlight movies?

There's Next Goal Wins, See How They Run...

There's also a 20th Century movie dated to December right after Avatar 2. Although I would move it to January, same weekend of Kraven.

I think Next Goal Wins is a known quantity because of how long it's been in a post-production state. If they still want to release it this year, I think the first news about it will be its submission or selection to the Toronto Film Festival. That film festival, where Jojo Rabbit won the audience award, is going to be an immediate method of building back buzz for Next Goal Wins since its long journey to release has drained some of its buzz away.

Got the trailer for this in front of Men today. The teaser was pretty vague, but it seems decent enough.
