juni78ukr
It's 63% above Wreck-It Ralph in rubles, but WIR earned more in dollars. It's also on par with Tangled in rubles, although in dollars that movie made close to $9M. These exchange rates are so damn low... I think they tried to compare only Saturday and Sunday grosses. Rsyu
So will the box office revenue for 2014 in dollars decrease from 2013?
Fullbuster
So will the box office revenue for 2014 in dollars decrease from 2013? Juni talked about this a while ago when the ruble was low but not that low (it fell quite a lot since then) and the BO was already decreasing in dollars, around 2% if my memory serves me well. So I expect an even bigger decrease with the ruble reaching an all-time low.
juni78ukr
So will the box office revenue for 2014 in dollars decrease from 2013? 8-10% increase in RUB, small decrease in USD.
Fullbuster
8-10% increase in RUB, small decrease in USD. The numbers in ruble show the Russian market is still pretty healthy, even if it's not like before for sure. The numbers in $ are pretty worrying though. juni78ukr
With a 4-day OW BH6 would be ahead! Not likely. Last year Cloudy 2 had a normal Thursday opening. Saturday and Sunday gave more than 85% of the weekend gross. Would make around 5mln, maybe slightly more.

No. Outside of summer holidays family movies always have very low grosses on Monday-Friday. Kids do not go to cinema alone, parents have to work. It doesn't matter Disney or other studio. On Monday Big Hero 6 dropped by 83% to around 393k. And that's thanks to autumn school holidays. Without them it would have 88-90% Monday drop.

Fullbuster
Given the exchange rate I expect just $9m OW for Interstellar, maybe $10m.
Leyla
so ruble has lost more than 3rd of its worth since last year. There is no way hobbit 3 makes close to hobbit 2. If this persists even Avengers 2 will struggle to gross 50M. I dont think admissions are growing at china's pace in russia. hopefully Bilbo can at least crawl to 40mil it would suck big time if Jolie beats him Edited October 29, 2014 by Tauriel
