Rudolf
You know, we remarked something with TA in many countries : it doesn't appeal to comics fan only, but families with kids too, and action-loving people, so it targets a larger audience. You proved Russians aren't big fans of SH movie, it's reality, but The Avengers will surpass the traditional SH movies in Russia because it's more than a SH movie, it's more ambitious too.Perhaps they can change the genre and how it is perceived in the future. In 1978 I watched Superman with my little sister. The Marrvel characters seem strange to me to say the least.
juni78ukr
And the Russian movies? Mostly patriotic and historical dramas? The only Russian movie Iever saw was Князь Игорь Actually Black Lightning is a kind of superhero movie. The first ever Russian I suppose. It's about an average young guy who gets for his birthday an old rusty car with ability to fly. For some time he just thinks it's pretty cool but after that he will be forced to fight evil in moscow sky. People were telling it's a pathetic rip-off but box office grosses were quite good for that time. The others russian films in the chart are quite different. Most of them are comedies, some are adaptations of famous local books, a war movie, biopics and animated films. juni78ukr
And actually it's available in Germany as Schwarzer Blitz. So you can buy or rent it if you want. In France it's also available and called L'éclair noir. Fullbuster
I would be happy with a 15M opening in Russia.Yeah, that would mean more than $30m in the final tally, ie the highest for a superhero movie and a chance to take the first place, ahead of John Carter. Fullbuster
20M won't be easy.Anyway the most important is the final tally : it MUST take the number 1 spot.Being behind John Carter ($33m) would be shameful.
Rudolf
It is very probable that it will open under $15m. If it manages a mutiplier of 2.5+, I will be the first to acknoledge that the Russians have changed.
