Fake
Why are we lamenting without we have even the first number out?Skyfall will easily outgross QoS. I have faith.
juni78ukr
In Russia Skyfall got 16+ rating. Actually this rating system started to work only a few months ago so we dont know exactly how much it could hurt box office grosses.
Jake Gittes
Oh yeah. It's pretty ridiculous. The government certainly isn't out to solve any real problems so, among other things, it comes up with the "protection of the children" law that's groan-worthy and has no positive effect on anything or anyone whatsoever. Anyway, now all Hollywood PG-13 blockbusters are rated 16+, pretty much all other American and European films, big and small, with the exception of family films, are rated 18+, all the Russian films without obvious and pervasive adult content get 12+, and the family/animated films are 6+ (yep, that's right). There's also an age disclaimer before every single fucking trailer they show in the cinemas. Embarrassing.
Fullbuster
I cant see any reason why SkyFall should gross much more than Battleship, Prometheus or Wrath of Titans. It's just another Bond movie with another villain and another pretty girl. Been there, seen that. Even Madagascar and Ice Age with huge grosses declined in admissions. Any total number hign than 20m would be pretty good.Very good movie and good numbers from QoS four years ago.Battleship and Wrath of the Titans aren't exactly quality movies. Jake Gittes
Russia doesn't put much stock in quality. Legs are similarly non-existent here for pretty much all live-action blockbusters nowadays. Avatar and Inception are the only ones I can remember, right off the bat, that had any.

Jake Gittes
It's not even about competition, it's about being frontloaded. People flock to see the movie in the first week, and by the end of the second week, it should take something special for them not to abandon it completely. Like Avatar's 3D or Inception's ending. I don't see Skyfall having something like that, and simply being a better-than-average Bond movie won't be enough.

juni78ukr
Word of mouth doesn't exist in Russia? Only a quarter of population go to movies at all. Less than one fifteenth are more or less frequent moviegoers.

Yeah, but : ADMISSIONS IN RUSSIA 2008 135.421 mln 2009 142.514 mln (+5%) 2010 164.786 mln (+15%) 2011 172.156 mln (+4.5%) We see an increase on a year-on-year basis, Russia isn't a developed country, so the potential of growth is there. Fullbuster
I hope for better-than-expected numbers for Skyfall, after all the country surprised us in the past.Look at The Avengers, some people expected low numbers because former superheroes movies weren't successful, but TA boomed to $43m
