The final/Monday update from insidekino.com

1. DM4 645k(830k)

2. IO2 315k(3.52M)

3. Bad Boys 4 52.5k(935k)

4. To the Moon(57.5k till Sunday)

5. Quiet Place -Day One 35k(180k)

verry nice increases from estimates! In Austria, DM4 was starting even a bit better, is crossing 100k total today.

But it's only those two family releases, there's nothing else getting decent numbers. Well, at least, football is over. Now on to the Olympics!

A good opening for Despicable Me 4 and a good hold from Inside Out 2 - once more, a weekend for family releases (and nothing else). A total >3mil is a safe bet for DM4 with this opening, and it might get to 4 depending on WOM and weather.

Prior admissions in the DM franchise:

2010 - DM1 - 2,5mil total

2013 - DM2 - 3,7mil total

2015 - Min1 - 6,9mil total

2017 - DM3 - 4,7mil total

2022 - Min2 - 4,2mil total

In Austria, very similar numbers but everything a few percent better than in Germany.

Next weekend: The big opener will be Twisters - we haven't seen a good disaster movie for some time so definitely some potential, but with low presales, #1 and 2 will stay the same as last weekend. Frankly, with the current state of the BO, a >100k OW would be pretty ok imho.

Thinking ~25K final for WED which should give 200K nationwide. Weekend can be 1M.

If 1M admissions happen , it's better than DS2 (638K) and NWH (814K)

The second trend from insidekino.de - no changes:

#1 DM 4 350k

#2 IO 2 180k

#3 Twisters 85k

#4 BB 4 35k

...

Love Lies Bleeding 25k

I.S.S. 12.5k

(Hefty) rain where I live despite the predictions that the bad weather will not start before Sunday evening. And it's way colder now than 1 hour before. Maybe it's the same in other regions. Could help.

A bit better than estimates; still not a good weekend - Twisters far from the 6-digit-range. It will end up with less admissions total than 1996's Twister's OW - terrible. Only family releases did ok (the fact that Garfield is still in the Top10 in week 11 despite being far from a big hit highlights just how awful the BO is atm).

In Austria, the weekend was a bit better - total admissions for the Top4:

DM4 - 177k; IO2 - 453k; Twisters - 14k; BB4 - 133k

A bad year in Austria, but not as bad as in Germany.

Next weekend: Deadpool & Wolverine is the big opener; it has a chance to become the biggest non-family release of the year so far (hitherto Dune 2 with 3,1mil total). With the two big family movies still strong and weather unstable, we should see three releases >100k and fine business over the whole day - finally (hopefully) a good weekend for the BO after a lot of disasters …

early weekend estimates for Germany from insidekino.de

#1: D&W - 650k (incl. Wed)

#2: DM4 - 350k (-4%)

#3: IO2 - 175k (-2%)

That's an ok OW for D&W but I doubt it can reach 3mil total from there

What about Twisters? Do you have any number?

One of the strongest post-Covid weekends, and yet, only nine releases >10k admissions. Deadpool opened within expectations (on the lower end, really) while the family releases had increases. The surprise was domestic crime comedy Zwei zu Eins, fine success! Bad Boys 4 crossed 1mil total, congratulations - still not good.

Once again, Austria had  similar rankings (with the exception of the German comedy which got very little love here) but higher numbers - Deadpool was at nearly 100k (97.626) after the weekend. So, the "Golden Ticket" (300k total) is within reach I'd say, while Germany's corresponding "Goldene Leinwand" (3mil total) seems like a hopeless case. The family releases are also at higher totals: DM4 249k, IO2 488k (a small chance at 600k total, the "Platinum Ticket"). Even the floppy Twisters is doing a little better in Austria, and BB4 is at 136k total.

Next weekend: Two wide openers - The Day the Earth Blew Up for families and Shyamalan's Trap. This week's Top 3 should stay the same but the Loony Tunes movie has a chance at #4 I'd say - we've seen that there's room enough for multiple family releases. Shyamalan still has some fans but presales are nearly zero at my cinema, doesn't bode well.
