IndustriousAngel
It's a bit disappointing Germany and France were among the few countries where it could be successful.. Yes, not so good. The opening isn't that far behind Inception, but it's troubling how frontloaded it seems to be. 1mil admissions should be locked, but with "Die Mannschaft" opening Thursday, 1.5mil seem nearly impossible now. moviesRus
Interstellar will probably lose out on some casual date night people. Die Mannschaft is more of an event film. I think it won't have a huge impact on Interstellar in the long run since it will be on TV soon anyways.
ShouldIBeHere
Yes, "Die Mannschaft" will hurt it and reviews have not been too kind in most big German newspapers and magazines. Anecdotal evidence: the WoM I heard is okay at best and abysmal at worst.

TMNT crumbled. "Fading Gigolo" made it into my list thanks to a successful opening weekend in Austria where it made it to #4 on the charts! Outlook for next weekend: In Germany (and that accounts for 80 - 85% of my combined chart), "Die Mannschaft" will easily take the weekend crown. It's hard to estimate the potential of this "docu" about the world cup, but presales look very strong and we may see the highest opening of the year yet - 500k admissions are the lower treshhold in my estimates, but it should get a bit higher. Some other notable openers, with less lofty expectations: "A Walk Among the Tombstones", "Dumb and Dumber To", "Nightcrawler", "Before I Go to Sleep" and "The Rewrite". Some quality stuff there but screens will be at a premium with Interstellar still going strong and theaters re-assigning screens to "Die Mannschaft" thanks to strong demand, so the potential for those releases is very limited - but we might see some nice PTAs, overall we can expect a fine weekend from the theater's view!
IndustriousAngel
First trend for Germany's weekend: MarkG from insidekino.de gives a range from 250-550k admissions for "Die Mannschaft" (really hard to gauge with erratic playtimes and a high walk-in potential) Interstellar at 300k, good hold! Among Hollywood openers, "A Walk Among the Tombstones" trends to 140k admissions, "Dumb and dumber to" to 125k. Neeson is very reliable as an action asset but this is lagging far behind "Non Stop" ... Everything else below 50k, so Maze Runner and TMNT won't reach the million.

el sid
Not much change, only that "Die Mannschaft" will get at a max 400k. But no wonder with so few playtimes, for example only 7 (!) for the whole week in my cinema. That's because the TV-date is so near, still I don't really understand that strategy. It could have done well (or lets say even better) in cinema and also as a free TV-premiere! But good for the fans of "Interstellar" which still holds well. The two smaller newcomers "Nightcrawler" and the Nicole Kidman film "Before I Go to Sleep" are now both on course for 50k admissions. For "Nightcrawler" the prediction was a little bit higher, but "Before I Go to Sleep" doubled its prediction. Nice - I think the plot sounds interesting. And Nightcrawler gets at least very good reviews. "Mr. Turner" in its second week should have exactly the same number of admissions as last week - 25k. IndustriousAngel
How's IS doing in German IMAX? No idea, really - the shows are selling ok, but IMAX is not really a major factor yet in Germany so the overall influence of the format is lower than in the USA. MazeRunner and GoneGirl - two releases with hitherto excellent legs - saw their first steep drops. Outlook for next weekend: Mockingjay 1 should account for the strongest opening of the year, easily. So expect steep drops for evening movies because there's a LOT of screens allocated to the franchise (including triple-features).

IndustriousAngel
It depends ... FJG was a phenomenon and a comedy, and "Das Kleine Gespenst" was a kid film with only afternoon shows. But Thor2 suffered a real implosion. Now I don't think it will that bad for Interstellar, but a drop >30% seems probable.
IndustriousAngel
Previews and persales indicate that MJ1 will open at least as good as CF last year, meaning more than 1mil admissions for the weekend and about 1,2mil including previews.
