If MarkG had it correczly yesterday that would be about 800k for the weekend, don't know if that can be true though.

IndustriousAngel
final weekend estimates: #1: 50SoG2 - 1.025k (incl. Wed) #2: Lego Batman - 260k (at least it doesn't drop again) #3: Split - 165k (-35%, good) #4: LaLaLand - 110k (-30%) #5: Wendy - 85k (-35%) #6: BlindDate - 80k (-30%, very good)
Aristis
Vaiana (60k/-37%) and Sing (27,5k/-44%) with bigger drops than the last couple of weeks. But with Lego as a main competitor it's not that bad. Vaiana should cross 1,9M - it will cross 2M soon and probably 2,1M. That would be a 13x multipler from its 160k OW! Split crosses 800k! A real success. 1M will happen soon. La La Land will be near 1M already, a great success too. Hopefully Batman will reach 1M too

el sid
John Wick 2 starts here on Thursday and I just wanted to say that the reservations look good so far. In fact, they look like the reservations other films in the past weeks had on release date! Hopefully this trend continues :). By the way the reviews here are good or very good so far and it gets an age rating (of) 18 which is rare in Germany but no problem if a film is popular (e.g. Expendables 1 & 2 had the same). John Wick in January 2015 had 170k OW (with previews) and a total of 430k admissions. Edited February 13, 2017 by el sid

On the other hand, holdovers dropped less than anticipated! LaLaLand has now crossed 1mil admissions, excellent for a musical and with the academy awards on thze horizon I don't see it dropping off the map anytime soon. Among holdovers, Hidden Figures shines with its PTA - a slight expansion would be nice! Split was very stable, too - a real success. Next weekend: Sequel weekend - John Wick 2 and Trainspotting 2 are the most prominent openers, while FSoG2 will stay on top. Maybe JW2 can open around 200k admissions, the first one was well received so I can see such an increase (though I was thinking the same for The Lego Batman Movie and look where that ended … ugh).

el sid
The Thursday estimates (insidekino.de/forum): New Releases: John Wick 2: 47k (starts in 495 theaters, so almost 200 theaters more than the first one had, good or very good reviews, nice WOM already) – would be a strong start if this number holds! T2 Trainspotting: 7.5k (312, good reviews) Schatz, nimm Du sie!: 1.5k (the German remake of the French hit „Papa ou Maman“, 221, pretty modest reviews) Fences: 1k (107, ok to very good reviews) Recep Ivedik 5: 14.5k (100, the biggest start of a Turkish film ever in Germany, no reviews) Elle: 4k (94, very good reviews) My Life as a Zucchini: ?k (65, very good reviews) Holdovers: Fifty Shades Darker: 70k (140k) – not a bad hold but it was overestimated last Thursday so take it with a grain of salt Split: 10k (18k) La La Land: 13k (15k) Mein Blind Date mit dem Leben: 7k (8k) Rings: 2k (4.5k) Edited February 16, 2017 by el sid
IndustriousAngel
Very good start for John Wick 2! Rather worse than expected for Trainspootting 2 ... my personal have-to-watch movie among this week's releases is My Life as a Zucchini - I'm a stop motion addict - but as usual such films get lost somewhere between careless marketing and stupid programming and, generally speaking, zero interest from distributor as well as theaters. Non-kid-animation is a complete no-go in Germany and Austria As to the hold of 50SoG2, the first one had a much better hold than expected, so I don't expect this one to crumble either. But with Valentine's day now past, repeat viewings will decline steeply and I guess it will be dropping a bit harder than the first one. 3mil total are still in play, though.
IndustriousAngel
First weekend estimates from insidekino.de: #1: 50SoG2 - 550k admissions (-35%, really good) #2: JW2 - 300k (incl. some previews, still excellent) #3: Recep Idevik 5 - 175k (best start for a turkish film) #4: LegoBatman - 140k (-45%) #5: Split - 95k (-40%) Trainspotting2 : 75k Like part 1, 50SoG2 is holding better than anticipated.
el sid
Some Thursday actuals (source: Blickpunkt:Film): #1 50SD: 90k (!) - so even better than estimated, I'm really surprised #2 John Wick 2: 35k – meh compared to the estimate yesterday but of course still a good number #3 Recep Ivedik 5: 19k #4 Split: 10.5k -> should have around 95k admissions this weekend according to insidekino.de #5 The Lego Batman Movie: 11k whole day – not the hold I hoped for; the last Thursday's actual number was 25k … Trainspotting: 10k Elle: 4k Schatz, nimmm Du sie!: 3k The first trend sees La La Land with another 80k moviegoers this weekend, again a good hold (had 111k last weekend). 50SD is doing too well in my view but at least I will help John Wick 2 in the evening :).
