IndustriousAngel
yep, with rainy weather over easter holidays we should expect some strong numbers, especially a much-needed rebound for family stuff!

Low PTA's across the chart, so on to this week and next weekend: With weather a bit unstable and easter holidays, family releases should see nice weekdays as well as good holds next weekend. The big opener is F&F8; the last one had a lot of publicity so maybe we should expect a little drop this time but 600k admissions seem like a sensible prediction; hopefully it can get a bit higher..
el sid
Too bad that exactly today we get no Thursday estimates :(. According to several other reports and some theaters where you can see the reservations/sold tickets I would say Fast 8 was today not far behind Fast 7. But I don't dare to say more because I'm just not sure how frontloaded it is. It was released in 660 theaters and reviews plus WOM are good. IndustriousAngel
First estimates: F&F8 1,3mil admissions - that's great, finally a mil+ opener and not that big a drop from F&F7! Good holds for family stuff as expected - BossBaby 225k admissions (+20%), Beauty 200k (-5%), Smurfs 175k (+20%)

el sid
And probably for the first time in weeks in the second trend all movies stabilized or the numbers improved: #1 Fast8 1.3M - a really nice surprise also to me, I didn't see that coming with the lower buzz and muted reservations till around Tuesday #2 The Boss Baby 225k - still around 45k admissions more than last weekend = 20% #3 BatB 200k #4 Smurfs 175k #5 Going in Style 90k #6 GitS 75k #7 Zu guter Letzt 50k #8 Lommbock 32.5k #9 Die Häschenschule 32.5k #10 The Shack 25k - at least flat Edited April 15, 2017 by el sid
IndustriousAngel
Going in Style is the only release with a significant difference in the 2nd trend ... saw it yesterday, it's the kind of feelgood comedy that should get a lot of good WOM among older audiences, might become a longrunner. Die Häschenschule was released a few weeks too early, I didn't understand the thinking then and still don't - why release an Easter movie 4 weeks before Easter holidays?!
Aristis
3rd: F&F8 still at 1,3M. The rest is stable as well, Boss Baby down to 215k
IndustriousAngel
Going in Style is up from earlier estimates again, might come close to a 100k weekend! Good number for F&F8. With rainy weather, family stuff should have excellent afternoon numbers today and tomorrow!

George Parr
Sounds like FF8 is at 1.55m after Monday, so about 200k on that day. FF7 had 1.9m admissions during its first week, plus not quite 300k from the Wednesday before that, for a total of 2.19m after eight days and a final result of ~4.2m. No idea how large Tuesday and Wednesday will be, but if those two days would combine for 200-250k, then FF8 would end its first week with around 1.55-1.6m, with an eight day total 1.75-1.8m. Looks like it might be rather close between FF8 and BatB when it comes to the total. Maybe somewhere around 3.5m admissions for both.

George Parr
Both FF8 and BatB seem very close to 10 Euro per admission so far, so multiplying the total by ten should work out as a rough guideline. After last weekend, BatB had 2.371m admission and made 23.486m Euro FF8, meanwhile, had 1.33m admissions in its first five days, while making ~12.75m Euro If the average prices would stay that way, and if both would reach around 3.5m admissions, BatB should end up slightly ahead. The obvious number would then be 35m Euro.

Fast & Furios 8 opened better than expected and family releases had great rebounds (best, of course, Easter-themed Die Häschenschule). And Going in Style kept going up from estimate to estimate, a sure sign of good WOM and hopefully some good multiplier (1mil total might be possible the way it was developing). Next weekend: No big releases; between F&F8 and GotG2 the week after, nobody dared release anything expensive. Conni & Co 2 is the domestic favourite, and Chips might attract some audiences since there's no big competition for comedies.
