Aristis
Are you too lazy for calculating changes FF8 (-52%/-59%) BB and Smurfs (-3%/-2%) BatB (-26%) Going in Style (-25%) the only movie that did not move down! GitS (-49%) So still good holds, if there would not have been the great trends before!

Family stuff was strong again, Bibi und Tina 4 did even increase against the best opener, Conni & Co 2 (which saw a sizeable drop from the first one). Beauty and the Beast crossed 3mil total, nice! Both french comedies missed the Top10, at least Bienvenue à Marly-Gomont had a decent PTA and might have a good hold. Next weekend: Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will take the weekend crown; the first one is well remembered and I expect (or hope for) an increase; a 600-700k opening weekend would be nice. Against this maybe-blockbuster (the first one missed 2mil total though) there are no other big releases, but Unforgettable gets releasesed in an market devoid of thrillers, so maybe some success in late evening shows.
titanic2187
again, superhero film is tested against european market, to me, european including german, were not really keen to superhero films, never had a superhero film, if i'm not mistaken, break $40m here, Edited April 25, 2017 by titanic2187

It just made $30M according to BOM. TDKR is probably the closest with about $35M (again BOM). So you're right, Germans do not really like SH
IndustriousAngel
GotG is not really a SH movie in general perception, rather some kind of SciFi action comedy.

el sid
No Thursday estimates available but at least we have the South-West-reports: According to them GotG2 had 3.425 admissions today in the picked theaters in that region. For comparison the first GotG had 2.094 admissions. Of course GotG2 will be more frontloaded but OTOH when GotG started we had summer holidays and this time GotG2 had no help. And a report from Rhein & Ruhr (mid-west): Last Thursday Fast 8 had 1.355 admissions in the selected theaters and 100k admissions on Thursday according to the actuals, today Guardians 2 had very fine 3.389 admissions. Unfortunately we can't just take the factor 2.5 ;), but it's a very good sign. The reviews for GotG2 are good and it starts in 686 theaters which means a little increase from the first one which was released in 596 theaters. The weather was terrible here in Bavaria today (as the entire week) and I think in the „rest“ of Germany mixed and tomorrow it will not improve. So far, so good for movies. The Saturday is no longer predicted to be sunny but the Sunday.
IndustriousAngel
yep, weather should be extremely movie-friendly, and GotG2 shows have good bookings, especially the 2D shows.
keysersoze123
Insidekino is saying 650K which is 40% ahead of 1st film. Quite good.
el sid
650k are of course ok, but I too hoped for a little bit more. At least Mark_G says that it could go higher with worse weather than predicted on Sunday but the prediction of the Meteorological Service for the weekend did improve so I wouldn't speculate on it. At least the Monday is a national holiday which will help the Sunday evening (if it's not too sunny and warm). The Thursday actuals (source Blickpunkt:Film): New Releases: GotG2: 120k – above the first one with 95k but much lower than I would have guessed I have to admit, the first one had a factor of around 5 (463k/491k with previews) and the Thursday was a school holiday back then but probably GotG2 is more front-loaded. Happy Burnout: 6.5k (200, pretty modest reviews between 2 and 6.5/10) → 60 OW predicted, a start as expected Gimme Danger (a docu about The Stooges, starts in ca. 50 theaters, good reviews): 1k Holdovers: Fast 8: 25.5k (actuals last Thursday: 100k) → 200k OW predicted BatB: 7k (30k) → 60k OW Going in Style: 5.2k – the only acceptable hold I don't know: Now the weather is not too good (here in Bavaria it's grey without clouds at the moment– depressing) and still theaters are not frequented like we hoped.
IndustriousAngel
I think that's a good number for GotG, of course I was hoping for 700k or maybe more but a 40% increase is nothing to be sneered at ... remember what happened to the LEGO Batman movie? The first one was equally well remembered and loved and yet, no increase from the LEGO movie. So, GotG2 managed to cash in on the first one's success and that's all that could be hoped for.
