In Austria, openings tend do be a little bigger than in Germany and drops steeper (probably because we have more seats per capita; a sellout situation in Austria is extremley rare) The good news this weekend: Green Book had its strongest weekend to date, in Germany as well as in Austria. Let's see how far the awards win can carry it Does that ratio really make much of a difference? As I don't think I ever saw a movie open selling out more than like 1/2 shows for the whole run (apart from TFA and probably movies like HP and LoTR). How to Tame Your Dragon 3 seems to have stopped its freefall but again, drops for other CGI movies were better. Among openers, Ostwind 4 stayed a bit below expectations while Escape Room and Cold Pursuit opened as expected. Next weekend: Well, there's only one real interesting opener and that's Captain Marvel. While a rather unknown property, Marvel has managed to impress itself upon audiences and has built a rather reliable fanbase and so even an unknown superhero might open to something around 500k admissions. Direct competition like Alita or Cold Pursuit will be hit hard; family fare otoh might see good holds once more without new competition. BR should get past 3.4M I think, that means it would push IW out of the top 3. And it would mean that it would non the less be the best placement for any Superhero movie ever (Right now that are Superman and SM1 wo were #5 in their respective year, though in the year Superman opened the highest admission count was done by a reissue of Jungle Book (9M adm!).)

I don't know yet if I'll watch it. I'm not that interested after watching Trailers and I hated AIW. Probably I'm just not that much into Marvel though I really like some of their movies. I'm more of a DC guy My hope for it to do well is mainly because German BO needs it...

Probably I'm just not that much into Marvel though I really like some of their movies. I'm more of a DC guy My hope for it to do well is mainly because German BO needs it... I dislike, like, love and have no interest into certain MCU movies, and its the same with DC. AIW is ~ interesting, but in my POV not that fun to re-watch, e.g. as it ends... sad. Yes yes, we all know, but... I liked a lot of scenes, but not all. Not sure why 'hate', but you wont hear a bad word from me bcs of that even if I'd liked it 100% I go for if I e.g. even like an character (like if I wouldn't like someone in RL to have around me, I wont like the character in a movie neither. Not about plausible abilities or not, more about the kind of person they are), like the general story,... = I write a lot at certain MCU movies and stay away from the most DC movies not based on the movies, but on the mood in the threads. The actual CM thread is also very bad, if I wouldn't stan so strong for it I'd avoid that one too. = for this one I stan a lot, I even 'suffer' through the thread 😉 . Your last sentence: that is why I really really do not understand why any BOT fan can wish a a bomb. Without movies like MCU/DC/... we had even less many cinemas. We drive today in the evening to Munich to get to see it in a good quality cinema (audio and visuell, and its in OV), the nearer ones have either a horrible audio or nausea inducing video. both need a lot of money to modernise, usually I use them too, but not if e.g. car chasing, fast bright/colourful palette movements,.... are in a movie.

Well, hate may have been a bit harsh. I had many expectations after seeing Trailers for AIW and thought that it may be a great movie. The main thing why I really disliked it is probably because it was a totally different movie than I expected. I didn't find it really epic (as Trailers suggested) beside some scenes on earth (not Wakanda!) and most of those deaths didn't really touch me, Spoiler only Gamora. I'm not into this whole DC vs. Marvel to point that out, it's just that I like the tone of the DCEU more (the dark and depressed mood). I still think (beside Nolans Batman Trilogy) BvS is the greatest SH movie (in extended edition) and JL was the worst of all DCEU movies (I may be part of the minority that liked Znyders style even though I too think that Martha thing seemed very constructed ). But I liked BP, DS, SM or CA too. So if this "hate" thing let you think I'm a DC loving and Marvel hating person, I hope I could convince you that I'm not. And now I'm just hoping for good numbers so this dark and depressed mood won't continue at least for German BO 1
IndustriousAngel
Captain Marvel seems to have a very nice opening, by now there might be a certain frontloadedness for the Marvel movies but 400k admissions should be easily doable with today's evening and 500k possible if it's getting good WOM. 6

Then on the OW of Us Uni might take back over and then Dumbo opens the following weekend, so Disney might take back. And then I think with Endgame and Aladdin Disney should be in the lead and stay in lead with TLK, Frozen 2, TS4 and IX. Actaully Disney stayed ahead by 10k, but I guess that changed during this week, just to switch back today.
