Giesi
What are the expectations for the Interstellar rerelease? Pre-sales seem to be pretty decent as far as I can see.

In Austria, not much better - the worst 2024 weekend. At least, Beetlejuice stayed in the 5-digit-range, but a really awful weekend too. Next weekend: Finally, after many weeks, a movie with blockbuster potential - Die Schule der magischen Tiere 3 has its official OW. I don't know if it can reach 3mil total but the way the franchise has been developing, anything lower than 2mil would be a disappointment. 2

Despite that, Despicable Me 4 had an increase and has now crossed 4mil total, congratulations, a very reliable franchise. Many other releases had fine drops (from low levels) or even increases - biopic Lee stood out with a nearly 70% increase which led it to #3. Megalopolis is flopping, not even half the admissions of the limited Interstellar re-release … In Austria, similar numbers except for Lee which didn't show a comparable increase. We had Lord-of-the-Rings triple features in some cinemas on Saturday which were pretty packed (4 screens at my cinema) but will probably not show up on the official charts. Next weekend: A second possible blockbuster - the first Joker movie made it to 4,2mil total back in 2019, so hopes are high that the sequel can reach at least 3mil. The market is in dire need of strong releases … 2
miketheavenger
Unfortunately, I predict that Joker 2 will drop significantly from the first film just like it probably will in the US. It just feels like nobody wanted a sequel to this film. But I'm of course happy to be proven wrong.

The way it looks, 3mil total are a possibility but depend on legs (which is often a bad sign for sequels as they tend to be more frontloaded)

Legs could become a problem though if WOM is as bad as it seems it could be.
