miketheavenger
Why is FJG back in the list? Did it get rereleased or what? Edited July 29, 2014 by miketheavenger
IndustriousAngel
I think it was never out of release, this is just a typical summer expansion (open air shows, primarily - comedies do very well on these outdoor screens)

This movie is just a beast. Bit like Intouchables, though on a smaller scale.

IndustriousAngel
... and here's the trend for Germany's weekend: #1: 22JS - 450k admissions (more than 21JS had in its entire run!!) #2: HTTYD2 - 275k #3: T4 - 250k #4: QecqoafaBD - 175k #5: TP-A - 160k (incl. previews) Eyjafjallajökull trends to 30k admissions, below expectations - after "Supercondriaque" the second flop in a row for Danny Boon, at least in Germany. IndustriousAngel
What box office for Qu'est ce qu'on a fait au bon dieu ? Should have made about 1.7mil US$ for the weekend. Actuals later ...
Rudolf
Thanks. This movie is just a beast. Bit like Intouchables, though on a smaller scale. The main difference: Intouchables was bit more successful in France than FJG
miketheavenger
The main difference: Intouchables was bit more successful in France than FJG True, but I was talking about its performance specifically in Germany+Austria. If you count the whole world, FJG is obviously nowhere near Intouchables. Edited August 5, 2014 by miketheavenger

miketheavenger
Do you think Transformers 4 could eventually get more admissions than Transformers 3? Looks quite possible to me.

Yes, it's possible but with Apes2 this weekend and maybe Lucy the weekend after, there's some competition for the big screens. So it will be close in either direction.

IndustriousAngel
Thanks. Well, since this year has been bad admissions-wise, it will probably end up in the Top 5 for the year one way or the other. Yes, I guess so - Mockingjay1 and Hobbit3 should be #2 and #1 for 2014, and with the Madagascar Penguins, even if they lag behind the "real" Madagascar films, #3 should be possible, so #4 for WoWS (wow) and #5 for T4. Of course, there may be some wildcard comedy stealing the thunder ...

And maybe we'll get a slight increase from QecqoafaBD again? One can hope ... $11.8m for The Fault in our Stars? I didn't expect it to be beyond 10m this one, I'm still impressed by TF4 there, I just don't understand how it can be so high in Germany/Austria while comicbook movies struggle passing 20m... IndustriousAngel
With comedies, you really never can tell if they connect (otoh, there's many surprises from that corner! Nobody had "Fack Ju Göhte! on his radar last year). As to "Interstellar", I have hopes for it as well - if it can do similar numbers as Inception, it will beat TF4 in admissions. In US$, it will be a lot harder thanks to TF4's 3D advantage.

Comics we know are successful like Superman(1978), Smurfs or Asterix. Obscure comics figures like Thor, Iron Man or Captain America less so.
