Ok, let's forget this weekend … in Austria, similar sad numbers but a different #1 with domestic CGI comedy Rotzbub - rare for an Austrian production to take the top spot!

Next weekend: With rain, we might see strong holds or rather some increases. And there are some potent openers - Morbius (pretty unknown character, but with Marvel, might still get near 1mil total) and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - first one was a success with >1mil total, let's see what this one can do. Family market is quite busy, however - with this weeks holdovers, Sonic faces stiff competition! Also opening: Domestic (very young) children's book adaption Peterchens Mondfahrt which should have a >50k OW - with easter holidays coming, no shortage of family releases!

Compared to the 2000s, the 2010s decade saw a sharp decline in attendance of german cinemas. Obviously with Covid hitting in 2020, the 20s now also look not very promising.

Yes. Bad weather (and if we can trust the forecast, its gonna be shitty) is always good for the box office here.

Predictions from inside kino will come when the OW is a few days away.

 

But here are the totals (attendance) of the first two FB movies:

 

FB1: 3,54M

FB2: 3,89M (Germany is one of the few markets where it increased).

 

So 3M attendants is a safe bet imo with the potential to get close to the Numbers of FB1 if it is well-received, which i think it will be judging from early reactions.

Not a safe bet at all actually. Won't be surprised with less than that but the strength of the brand shouldn't surprise anyone at all here in Germany. I mean it can still cross 3M and end up as the lowest grossing wizarding world film by far

First Sonic had 363k attendants, so this would be a big drop. Though the weather is truly a shitshow, so the 2nd and 3rd trends could be a bit better i think.
