I am away for the next few days, not much time, but as I'll be in a big city, maybe I can sneak in time for an English viewing there whilst on the trip

We got about 30.000 students here in town, so OVs do big business, at least the english ones. French and Italian, not so much (atm there are 2 or 3 OVs for QecqoafaBD per week, which sell only 15 to 30 seats per show)

First trend for Germany's weekend:

#1: GotG - 525k admissions (a bit better than expected, even if that's including previews)

#2: Doktorspiele - 200k  (that's a real surprise here - the strong run of domestic comedies continues)

#3: QecqoafaBD - 175k - the first serious drop, nearly 30%, so it seems 3mil total is impossible to reach

#4: Lucy - 150k (-45%, ouch)

#5: Ex3 - 100k (-60%, OUCH)

#6: Begin Again - 95k (incl. previews) - very strong for the limited release!

 

So, a very strong weekend for all openers, while everything else suffers a bit more than I hoped.

If that trend for GOTG holds, I think 1.5mil admissions look good if WOM is similarly good to the U.S.

yep, looks good, even 2mil are in play. As I've written some pages ago, 2.5mil would be my dream number - still no blockbuster but way better than Thor or CA or IM. Even Avengers had "only" 2.25mil admissions in Germany - so, depending on WOM, GotG might become the bigest success in the MCU.

Yep, rather frontloaded - I think 2mil are very hard to reach now. Still a big success, and there's virtually no competition in the popcorn market throughout September (I'd not count Hercules and SinCity as competition) - so who knows?
