Fullbuster
So this surprising trend can have a few explanations : -Dory is holding incredibly well so that wouldn't necessarily mean IA5 is disappointing -Ice Age 5 is really underperforming while Dory doesn't fall too much, enough to be ahead. I have the feeling IA5 is underperforming though...I expected that but having Dory ahead on its 2nd Friday was not in my calculations.
Fullbuster
This is very rare but we have more numbers from FilmeB about Ice Age 5's OD and its competition with Dory. On July 7 Dory was slightly ahead of Ice Age 5 despite it was IA5's Opening Day : R$3.28m for Dory vs R$3.22m for IA5! In admissions that means the gap between them is inferior to 10,000 admissions. That means Dory held really well while Ice Age 5 is doing well, probably a bit less than IA4 but not by much. Come on guys, what do you think of that? Edited July 9, 2016 by Fullbuster
Fullbuster
PLANNING : Ghostbusters : July 14 Tarzan : July 21 Suicide Squad : August 4 PETS : August 25 So Dory and IA5 won't suffer from Pets' competition, that's good. Ghostbusters next week, Napoleon will finally get excited, he probably bought a vacuum cleaner and a lipstick for the occasion Edited July 9, 2016 by Fullbuster

Arlborn
@FullbusterYou're awesome. Just wanna say that. And damn, those numbers for Dory and Ice Age this weekend are crazy so far! I wonder how well Dory is actually holding, it must be holding amazingly well, Jesus. It should be fun to see which one will come out on top! That's really good for Dory, it really needs some over-performances OS as it's not been doing so well in some places, like your native France...

Thanks I do my best I can't wait for the day Brazil becomes a really big market, probably not a long wait I expected quite a drop for Dory because it had such a strong OW and competition from a juggernaut of animated movies in Brazil so these legs are quite a shock to me, it's highly unusual for a Disney / Pixar movie by the way...2016 could be the year their animated movies become really successful on Brazil after years of modest success. And these legs will help Dory to reach $1B WW all the more. As for France I didn't expect it to gross $64m like Nemo but still it's really disappointing, the release date was really horrible: The sun was back after 2 months of rain, the Euro cup was taking place in France and the Brexit lowered the value of the Euro currency. thank god the global box office relies much less on Europe than before so Latin America, South Korea and other markets more than offset such a underperformance in France
Fullbuster
Tickets sold per inhabitant in Brazil 2010 : 0.7 tickets 2011 : 0.73 2012 : 0.75 2013 : 0.76 2014 : 0.78 2015 : 0.84 It's still very low compared with South Korea, the US and France so there is a lot of room to grow. Passing to 1.5 tickets per inhabitant this year (which is not much) would give us around 310 million tickets sold, much more than in France, Korea, Russia. Plus, it would become the third biggest market after the US and China if we don't take the exchange rate into account. It's quite a huge potential, potential I hope to see soon enough Data I used to calculate this : Admissions in Brazil (in millions) 2010 : 135m 2011 : 142m 2012 : 149m 2013 : 151m 2014 : 157m 2015 : 171m Brazil population (in millions) 2010 : 192m 2011 : 194m 2012 : 197m 2013 : 199m 2014 : 202m 2015 : 204m
Fullbuster
I expect Dory to be around 40-45m in local currency this Sunday. That would make it pass Zootopia and Monsters University while being at the same level than Wreck-It Ralph and Inside Out. It is certain to pass Frozen and The Good Dinosaur next week to become Disney/Pixar's biggest movie in Brazil.

Fullbuster
WOW : Dory is much bigger than I thought it would be!!! With R$56m it is now the biggest Disney / Pixar movie in Brazil, passing The Good Dinosaur (48.3m) and Frozen (47.5m), much earlier than I thought, that's really impressive!!
