Brazil Box Office Thread

Justice League only grew by $1.1m from last weekend (or R$3.3m) to reah $39.2m.

Doesn't mean much given it's usually a very weak weekend anu=yway but still, let's hope it can at least reach $40m, it's very hard to reach these days so it would be symbolic. Beauty and the Beast reached it and now you can see how incredible its brazilian run was :)

How much can Coco expect to earn in Brazil? Very curious since I am deeply in love with this film.

Hard to say. January is usually the best possible month for an animated movie, Moana strongly benefited from it.

Coco has a highp otential in Brazil but forecasting it is hard because it will compete with Jumanji from the start.

How important Brazil is for Hollywood movies (in USD)?

Let's see this with the global ranks.Brazil is,for now,the 10th biggest BO market,so anything beyond the 8th place means a movie overperformed in Brazil.

OVERPERFORMING MOVIES

-Rio: 1st,Brazil was its biggest market
-The Fault in our Stars : 1st
-Rio 2 : Brazil = 2nd biggest market behind China
-Twilight BD2 : 2nd,behind UK
-The Avengers : 3rd market, behind China and UK.

-Beauty and the Beast 2017
-Iron Man 3 : 4th biggest
-Captain America 2 : 4th biggest
-X-Men DOFP : 4th
-Ice Age 3 : 4th
-Shrek 4 : 4th
-Wreck-It Ralph : 4th

-The Avengers 2 : 5th
-The Amazing Spiderman : 5th biggest
-Tangled : 5th
-Ice Age 4 : 6th
-Madagascar 3 : 6th

IN LINE WITH THE CURRENT SIZE OF THE MARKET

-The Hobbit 2 : 10th

UNDERPERFORMING MOVIES

-Frozen : 11th
-Avatar : 11th
-Transformers 3 : 11th

I added Beauty and the Beast 2017 and made some hcnages here and there, I'll add other movies over the next few days :)

"Brazil Box Office Thread | JANUARY 4 : Coco vs Jumanji ! / 2018 will be fascinating for sure, The Avengers Infinity War will destroy everything!! :o"

I hope Coco reach $ 20M!

Interesting to see IW vs The rest. I think have a chance to pass CW and Ultron

The Avengers IW is the only movie that could beat Avengers 2 in 2018, Justice League was the one in 2017 but it wasn't up to the task. You need Avengers to beat Avengers ^^

So... Jedi will finish above or under Guardians vol. 2?

It's impossible to say right now, activity strongly slowed since last weekend, as usual in Brazil when Xmas and the New Year comes.

However I cant say if TLJ will recover enough to pass GOTG2 given Coco/Jumanji will take a lot of screens from it from January 4.

Let's say being under GOTG2 is a possibility ^^
