also the biggest IMAX opening weekend ever.

Random fact but Chris Nolan has now broke twice the IMAX opening weekend record. First with The Dark Knight Rises and now with Oppenheimer.

Tied with the Russo Bros who broke it with both Infinity War (from TFA) and Endgame.

All shot in (one way or another) IMAX

Scream VI beats its predecessors in all rates. Same for Creed III.

Elvis marks an all-time high in Baz Luhrmann's career in all rates as well.

John Wick 4 pulls growth in all fronts from its predecessors and becomes one of the highest non-horror B15 titles ever.

The Whale overperforms over any other country on its OS run approaching $10M.

Oppenheimer marks Nolan's best start outside of the latest two Batman not only in lc but admissions and USD as well. Also grabs the IMAX opening record which hasn't gone for a sub-$100M opener probably since 2004.

It's indeed another high for adult-oriented titles which have been on a hot streak even before pandemic

Using CANACINE's latest numbers, they rounded Barbie up.

TOP MOVIES 2023 (lc)

01     1,541,000,000  The Super Mario Bros. Movie

02        667,000,000  Fast X

03        641,000,000  Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

04        495,400,000  Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

05        390,000,000  Barbie

06        363,000,000  The Little Mermaid (2023)

07        349,700,000  Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

09        330,055,000  Ant Man & The Wasp: Quantumania

Are there any other markets in which The Flash > Quantumania?

ATSV will fall short of the all time Top 50 🙃

The only quadrant not covered is the family aspect. I don't think you would bring nana and smaller kids to a movie like Spiderverse, even if it's rated "A" (all audiences).

Said that, I think it performed really well for this type of animation because it's Spidey after all, and a huge BO improvement over the first movie. Even the cutesy Super Pets couldn't reach 200M lc.

Doll Power! From DeadlineMexico is the next biggest market for Barbie after UK with $29.1M through Tuesday, a 16% dip versus Monday,

And Oppy's not too shabby: Mexico added $700K at No.2 on Tuesday for a running total of $6.2M. Having already overtaken Tenet, the film has now surpassed the lifetime of Dunkirk. Performance to-date is +14% above MI:7 and more than double Interstellar and Dunkirk at the same point in release.

Barbie is $49M which is on par with my expectations for o/u $750M after this weekend. I was expecting growth on Wednesday due to Discount Day but not even Mario could increase and early shows point to a decrease as well. We'll wait until Thursday numbers to get a better picture.

Oppy is astonishing. All Nolan originals are going to be dusted early on the weekend. Hopefully reaches John Wick 4.
