Minions third weekend gross is on par with DM3 at same time.

Yeah in USD. Lc is 11% ahead. It'll end above $35M USD and close to first Minions in lc; admissions-wise will drop about 1/3.

Seems like it'll beat Love & Thunder on weekdays soon and be ahead throughout summer break. Thor may be $490M-$510M total and 7M admits departing from Ragnarok's 8M.

Maverick ahead of Lightyear is something I didn't think I would see but yeah. Black Phone should keep pushing towards $300M/$15M.

Ok so...

  • Rise of Gru should pass first Minions in lc and mantain as 3rd highest grosser of the year. Summer break start this week so it should see good holds for the next weeks.
  • Love and Thunder beating Multiverse of Madness thanks to great weekdays. It should do fine closing way past what was expected after week 2.
  • Amazing for Elvis with a 19% drop. Should blow past $6M USD and beat several titles such as Rocketman, both Mamma Mia, A Star is Born, La La Land and become the 2nd biggest biopic ever sandwiched between Bohemian Rhapsody (1st) and local title Cantinflas (current 2nd).
  • Tremendous run for Black Phone. On the leagues of the Anabelle saga and comparable with Conjuring 3.
  • Everything Everywhere has now spent 7 consecutive weeks on the Top 10. It has neared a whoping x20 from its limited opening weekend. It started on 76 screens and never expanded beyond 320.

Besides this weekend's Top 10 there's a few words on Wakanda Forever which has been getting a great response. Of course I'm not talking about the movies themselves but it does seems to be shaping up as a good comparison -just not as massive- to Coco in terms of cultural zeitgeist. First Black Panther was a hit and only the second biggest MCU solo on its time so we'll see how historical and cultural representation works in favour of it.

Is this because of Namor?

Namor and all the atlantean being based upon Aztec and Mayan cultures. Tenoch has made himself a name and Mabel Cadena (Namora) has had a couple of brekout roles among local audiences so she's gaining traction as well. In the end it's a combination of multiple factors.

Wow, I hadn't seen the trailer. This will be huge!

Meantime, in the all time lc list:

16    724,799,241    Minions (2015)

17    692,702,046    Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
18    685,843,392    Jurassic World (2015)
19    676,815,295    The Fate of the Furious (2017)

20    660,700,000    Minions: Rise of Gru (2022)

21    642,094,748    Captain Marvel (2019)

It will jump over The Family and the dinos and get very close to the first movie by next Sunday. I think the critters can make it to 800M lc.

And a bit below:

47    485,214,286    Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

48    478,000,000    Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

49    476,541,242    Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

@Purple Minion / @Carlangonz, Dr Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness reached MEX$927,000,000 and didn't update the thread 🧵. Forgetting this big number isn't a rookie mistake....

Just realised that The Black Phone could have a 5x multiplier this weekend. Very, very rare.

DC League of Super-Pets getting the most screens from tomorrow but nothing spectacular, in some markets it's even with Minions; Thor keeping the premium threatres.
