Yes, the $ is also used for Mexican pesos. Will use MX$ to avoid any confussion from now on :shades:

According to this document, Mexico is still the 10th largest movie market in the word even though box office went down 5% in 2014:

In the All Time Top 20, DH2 has the biggest % of gross on OW (excluding FF7 since it's still in cinemas), while Avatar has the lowest:

The Avengers did $61.7m according to BOM, $63m according to Egeda (Spanish private company) or $62.8m using OD exchange rate...

For those not lucky enough to speak Spanish ;) :

- Mexico generates 2.7% of the worldwide gross

- Repeats as the #4 market in audience, after US, China and India, and 10th in gross measured in US$.

- 2014 was the highest grossing year ever! Increase of 1.11% in MX$ (11,190M vs 11,190M).and 0.05% in audience.

- Audience of 256.4 million in 637 movie theatres, 5,799 screens and over 1 million seats.

- Two formats went up: 4D (+35% gross, +47.4% audience) and IMAX (+20.7% gross, +33.5 audience)

- 161% increase in theatres showing Mexican movies (current average = 134 theatres per movie)
