Purple Minion
It passed $70M. I think it can take another $2M, perhaps $3M; it has no competition until Aug 9 with SLOP 2.

Only 400,000 behind Endgame. This weekend tops Endgame run before expansion. No. 1 should come next weekend. So far is managing the record without cheap tickets or expansion. Insane! 12 minutes ago, Purple Minion said: Very strong weekdays for TLK, total is now 549.2M lc (about $29M). If it has a decent drop this weekend, it should reach 1B. $1B/$50M+ is looking better and better. A sub-50% drop would lock it and looking back at past summers is very hard for it to fail. 15 minutes ago, Purple Minion said: Sony rounded up Spidey's numbers, 565.8M up to Thu which is roughly $29.8M. It has a shot at $600M+. A modest but good 25% increase over Homecoming. Also this weekend is going to be the biggest grosser Spidey title ever in admissions finally passing Spider-Man 3! 3

Besides the fact that both TS4 and Coco had only six days of run for IMAX, PLF and 4D Edited July 28, 2019 by Carlangonz

Carlangonz
JULY 26TH-28TH. THE LION KING DOMINATES THE WEEKEND DURING ITS SECOND FRAME: TOPS CAPTAIN MARVEL AS THIRD BIGGEST HIT OF THE YEAR. TOY STORY 4 IS *THIS CLOSE* TO BECOME ADMISSIONS CHAMP. The Lion King - It has topped last may’s Aladdin as Disney’s highest grossing live-action remake in lc and today is poised to surpass Maleficent in admissions. - Fifth best second weekend ever below second frames of Toy Story 4, Coco and two last Avengers. However it’s a harder drop than for majority of Disney’s live-actions as most of them fell under 50%. - Simba’s arrival to the $1B club keeps looking good but isn’t locked yet. In admissions is also looking to finish as No. 5 but unfortunately won’t make it to the 20M+ admissions club. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile - Ran out of comps but this is definitely a good result for a drama/thriller like this. It has basically marketed itself among younger audiences and it has worked well. Spider-Man: Far From Home - It shall surpass Iron Man 3 between Thursday and Friday and install as 7th highest grossing MCU title. - In admissions is now above Spider-Man and Spider-Man 3. As for Sony titles is only below Hotel Transylvania 3 (11.1M adms). Toy Story 4 - No more words: it shall beat Avengers: Endgame as no.1 title ever in admissions at some point during the week. Woddy is inevitable. # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM. Carlangonz
After this weekend results mexican box-office has crossed $12B lc/$620M+ USD for 2019 results. This already represents 72% of total box-office during 2018 which is the highest grosser year ever and at the moment is running about +20% compared to the same point in 2018. We can expect nothing but a new all-time record that finish between $18B-$20B with a possible first-ever $1B+ USD year not just for Mexico but also for a Latin-American market. As for admissions we're already at 220M+ which represents 67% of 2018 and 64% of 2017 -the current all-time high- and is also running above 2018 at the same point of the year by +13%. If the rest of the year delivers we're definitely looking to a record-breaking figure which would be above 350M+. Disney has the biggest % of market share with a whopping 43.9% of yearly box-office and over $5.5B lc grossed. By the moment Maleficent 2 is delivered to theaters it shall be the first studio ever to cross the 100M+ admissions sold within a year beating their own record by astonishing +35%! And with three titles yet to go. The only studio apart from Disney to have a double-digit share is Warner Bros with a distant 14.1% which should increase once It Part 2 ($500M+), Joker ($250M+) and Doctor Sleep ($120M+) be released. Rounding the Top 5 are Sony (9%), Universal (6.6%) and Videocine (6.3%). 2
carlsalf38
Wholly freaking Sh... This is just incredible. Three 1 Billion Movies in the same year and two breaking the record for admissions is just… unbelievable. So for the $18B mark we would need: Hobbs and Shaw 600 The Secret Life of Pets 550 Crawl 80 Scary Stories 120 Once upon a Time in Hollywood 50 Angry Birds 2 80 Angel has Fallen 45 Como si fuera la Primera Vez 110 It: Chapter 2 550 Dora and the Lost City of Gold 85 Mama se fue de Viaje 50 Ad Astra 60 Tod@s Caen 180 Abominable 60 The Joker 250 Maleficent: Mistress of Evil 800 Gemini Man 170 The Adamas Family 80 Terminator: Dark Fate 130 Redrum 80 Zombieland 2: Double Tap 58 Charlie's Angel 75 Frozen 2 350 Guadalupe Reyes 40 Knives Out 55 Jumanji: The Next Level 250 (2019) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 200 (2019) Spies in Disguise 180 (2019) 5338 Along with lower tier movies like Yesterday, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, Midsommar, Booksmart, Playmobil: The Movie, Ready or Not, Rambo: Last Blood, Downton Abbey, Good Boys, La Boda de la Abuela, Ford vs. Ferrari, The Good Liar, El Hubiera si Existe so yeah… probably good for reaching the mark. Let’s hope for other movies outside these ones to breakout and help the BoxOffice to reach 19B 2
