Purple Minion
Wrath of Man is #1, low $450K opening. The Peter Rabbit sequel repeats at #2, The Unholy at #3 with a great $5.6M total. Then we have two exorcism movies, The Seventh Day at #6 and local movie El exorcismo de Carmen Farias at #7. What's going on! Godzilla vs. Kong still in the Top 10, $20.3M total.

Purple Minion
Mexico's love for the supernatural continues. Box Office Pro reports that The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It opened to $6.7M, about 135M lc, similar to GvK (although the monster movie had a 5 day OW). Cruella is up to $5.8M. Purple Minion
The Conjuring: TDMMDI had a brilliant 118.7M lc ($6M) 3-day, 131.8M lc ($6.65M) 4-day OW. Highest opening of the year based on those timeframes, and just 1.5M lc shy of Godzilla vs. Kong 5-day OW record. Cruella dropped just 18% in lc compared to last weekend. Carlangonz
JUNE 3RD-6TH WEEKEND. CONJURING MANAGES THE BIGGEST OPENING DURING THE PANDEMIC ERA AND OPENS ON PAR WITH COMPS. CRUELLA BARELY DROPS DESPITE PIRACY AND PREMIERE ACCESS. Small prologue. As of this report's writing most cities have expanded capacity to 50% for theatres including Mexico City and Cinemex has expanded its re-openings.The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It Biggest opening in the pandemic era surpassing Warner's own Godzilla v Kong in both 3-Day ($98M/$89M) and 4-Day ($118M/$110M) opening frames. Noting that GvK had a full 5-Day opening whereas Conjuring had a 4-Day with Wednesday Night Previews. It opened just 11% behind 2019's Annabelle Comes Home comparing 4-Day openings in lc and 13.6% in admissions. Considering all things it's a pretty good result and on par with the success of the saga. Piracy factor didn't really hurt GvK but this one is facing AQP II starting Wednesday and wom is still to be seen so we should keep an eye on it crossing $300M Cruella Impressive hold considering the D+ PA factor and therefore the piracy factor. Best than 2019's leggy hit Aladdin by 10% which ended up with a 3.7 multi. It's now the 4th largest hit in the pandemic era and should be 3rd by the time F9 opens. It's quite a good result all things considered. Could leg as well as Aladdin; it has a warm reception among audiences and neither competition or a shorter theatrical window should be a problem. # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) ADM. Carlangonz
Kudos to Demon Slayer: Mugen Train which already left the Top 10 but still became third largest Asian title ever behind Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Parasite after a leggy and successful run delivering the best result ever for its distributor. Next weeks should see a turnover (or maybe not) after changes in distribution and windows start to apply. Theatrical windows for the biggest studios go by: Disney - 1 day before Premiere Access and 45 to 60 days depending on each title for no additional cost. Titles should go straight to D+ after its run on theatres starting by Cruella which arrives by mid-July. Warner Bros - 35 days for all titles. All of them will go to HBO Max starting with Conjuring 3 which releases shortly after HBO Max launches in the country by early July. Apparently Paramount hasn't announced anything despite Paramount Plus now available. Universal reached a shorter window for PVOD during pandemic but remains to be seen in streaming since HBO holds its 1st pay-window as well as Sony's and both haven't said a word. Smaller distributors have reached deals for shorter windows if they have a SVOD launch for example First Cow which releases on Mubi a month after its theatrical opening this past weekend.
Purple Minion
Looks like another good hold for Cruella, up to $7.9M now. From BoxOfficeReport.com: The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It took in $3.0 million in its second frame in Mexico (where the film has grossed $11.9 million through Sunday). Spirit Untamed opened to $0.36 million. Edited June 14, 2021 by Purple Minion

Carlangonz
JUNE 10TH-13TH WEEKEND. CONJURING 3 REPEATS AS NO. 1 AND QUIET PLACE 2 OPENS ON PAR WITH FIRST INSTALLMENT. CRUELLA MANTAINS GOOD HOLDS. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It Better hold than Nun and Annabelle: Comes Home and on par with Annabelle: Creation. If everything goes well it should pass $300M lc and become 4th largest title in the franchise which is close to both Annabelle installments. No direct competition looming but should have a quick fall on screens next week to Fast 9. A Quiet Place: Part 2 Opens on par with first AQP comparing 5-Day to 4-Day openings and slightly below on 4-Day and 3-Day comps. First chapter had great legs but remains to be seen this time; it should become another $100M for the year. Cruella It keeps legging better than Aladdin so $200M are completely within reach for this one targeting to become the leggiest Disney live action ever. # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM. Carlangonz
PS for F9 started on monday and they're quite slow yet. However is opening on a Wednesday (23rd) which makes me think studios except Disney will make 5-Day OW now a rule for blockbusters during summer, winter and spring holidays so here we go again to make unpredictable projections and a harder read of numbers.
Carlangonz
JUNE 17TH-20TH WEEKEND. THE WARREN WIN FOR THIRD WEEK IN A ROW AS TORETTO AND FAM RETURN ON WEDNESDAY. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It Still on par with Annabelle: Creation's at the same point of release. Should cross $300M at some point during the weekend and then drop like a rock. A Quiet Place: Part II Similar drop to its predecessor. Final gross will definitely be under first installment but with a good hold anyways. Cruella Way better hold than Aladdin at the same point of release; it's 12% better than the 2019's hit. By tomorrow it should be the leggiest Disney live-action crossing a 3.7x from its opening weekend. Weeks to come are pretty similar to Aladdin's in terms of competition (TS4 = F9, FFH = BW) so if everything goes right should pass $200M with ease. All things considering this is a bigger story than GvK during these pandemic times. # MOVIE WEEKEND % CHANGE TOTAL (MXN) TOTAL (USD) ADM.
