Always loved the Evil Dead movies and this one is no different, really loved this. I think it's more of a testament to the franchise's quality that this is my least favourite of the bunch and I still really liked it. In terms of mainstream horror it's probably going to be my favourite of the year (I'm not counting Skinamarink as mainstream cause lmao), it's so delightfully twisted and gory and nasty like a good Evil Dead thing should be. Alyssa Sutherland is incredible here, I wanna see her in more stuff and the way she plays with her face as a Deadite is something to behold. It's also not afraid to go after kids as well which I appreciate, it's as no-holds bar as they come at points. Still prefer the remake in terms of pure gore and fun but this is a great blend of that film's grittiness and the original's campy charms.

Alyssa Sutherland is queen. Not a perfect movie but really fun 95 minutes. B+/A-
