Unfitclock
What happened to Amazon putting 13 movies a year in theaters and why are they so selective on which ones go to theaters the account 2 and a simple favor 2 going to streaming makes no sense whatsoever it’s like lionsgate is scared to put a simple favor 2 in theaters because they don’t want to market although it’s already been proven multiple times that if movies go to theaters first they will do better on streaming
Pinacolada
Yeah The Accountant 2 and Simple Favor 2 going straight to streaming sucks so bad. I'm guessing the budget for each of them is gonna be 2x the budget for the original films'. Still fucking lame on the creatives' parts and the studio's
filmlover
Given that the studios behind the original movies (WB and Lionsgate, respectively) had no problem letting them go and how long it's already been since those movies came out (8 years and 6 years), it seems pretty obvious streaming was the only way The Accountant 2 and A Simple Favor 2 were ever getting made when the diminishing returns were written all over the wall. This. FIlms that are that long in the locker usually dies a quick death at the box office. problem is people do not get how much it cost to oput a movie into theaters. In the case os m any low budget films, the costs of distribution are more then the budget for the film. Yes, Warners and Lionsgate were happy to dump these movies onto Amazon. dudalb
So far, much less theh impressed with Amazon;s MGM offerings. More convinced Amazon just bought this for the prestige of the MGM label.

Or, if one prefers, "Tapping into brand awareness"/"wistful memories of a certain style of movies made". Aside from that, or rather along those lines, it could be for similar reasons for why Touchtone Pictures existed: An easy shorthand for a style/brand of movies. *checks story* Uh-huh: Quote “We are so proud to welcome him to our lot and partner with him on the relaunch of the legendary UA brand, as we work to leverage existing and new IP into big, broad films that resonate with worldwide audiences.” “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mike Hopkins, Jen Salke and Courtenay Valenti over the years, and I’m thrilled to partner with them to produce a slate of films and to relaunch the iconic UA brand that has such a rich history of cinematic storytelling,” Pretty much it in a nutshell. If I want to be slightly less cynical, movie studios have divisions/subdivisions for a variety of reasons and have for a long time. So I can see the reason for this even with the nostalgia card, though this surely drove a ton of it, if not nearly all of it. (again "nostalgia"/"brand awareness" = "to-MAY-to"/"TOE-mah-to") Edited July 27 by Porthos
