JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

Only if it crosses 2 billion mark before entering weekend.

Thanks, so milestones are the ones that reported. What are the chances, it makes 600M over the next 5 days? 600M seems doable to me plus Rth could give us an update. Edited by druv10

Rth's numbers are very accurate, let's hope he give us an update before weekend. Or we have to wait until Monday.

Unfortunately, he's either on vacation or taking time away from the forums. Unless TA hits a milestone, we're gonna have to wait. :( Edited by druv10

lab276 - Yes, but it'll be a very slow crawl. It sort of has to reach that mark or else executives and distributors will be vary wary of Pixar's next original films.druv10 - Unless most who had interested in the film saw it over Obon Week, it's likely to beat Spider-Man. Spider-Man is nearly finished and had very poor legs, especially for a Summer release. The sequel will probably suffer and see a significant drop-off, and I doubt the exchange rate is as favorable as this year's to save it in dollars.

I doubt executives and distributors will get restless especially with Monsters University coming out next year. I remember, you saying that MU has a shot at 100M+.

Not with their sequels, but their original films would be treated differently if Brave would somehow miss the 1 billion yen mark. That's a lot of money lost for everyone involved with the release in Japan. Dreamworks has recently suffered in the market because their films were barely grossing 1 billion or missing the mark. A few of their releases, Megamind, Ice Age 4, and one other I can't recall, aren't even getting released because of this.

Of course it won't be nearly that bad for Pixar given their past success, but if their original films would follow Brave in the future it'd certainly hurt their releases.

$100 million is possible for Monsters University if the exchange rate is still this favorable. :P

Don't say that because if another original fails, Disney will compel Pixar to make TS4.

Umizaru: Brave Hearts has grossed 6.3 billion yen for 41 days in release, breaking 5 million admissions.

The battle between Umizaru and Odoru 4 is very interesting.

Is that why Cars2 made 3 times as much Cars in Japan? Edited by Rudolf

You said milestones are reported, so TA should have passed 1M admissions on Tuesday or Wednesday.
