Tom Cruise last week came to South Korea to promote MI:Dead Reckoning Pt.1, fulfilling a promise he made one year ago when he came to promote Top Gun: Maverick. Tom Cruise is arguably South Korea's favourite Hollywood actor having visited a total of 11 times to promote his movies ever since he came to promote Interview with the Vampire in 1994. Koreans love him for his amazing fan service, where he will often stay to sign the autographs of fans for several hours as well as his history of coming to Korea to promote his films on such a frequent basis.

Dead reckoning pt.1 has the platform to perform really well. Previously, Rogue Nation and Fallout, although it did quite well, suffered somewhat from being released during late July where it was directly pit against 10M admissions plus juggernauts. Top Gun: Maverick last year managed 8,177,446 admissions when it was released on June 22nd to minimal competition. Dead reckoning will be looking to hopefully replicate that formula and perhaps to surpass it.

5PM Monday - 56,729

Haven't closely followed the admission progression for weekdays so not sure if it has enough in the tank to increase on last week (65,141) but I'd say it's likely since it gained 11k in the last two hours.

Comparing with Sunday which had 28k in the last 2 hours, Monday is running at 39% of that. Sunday had a further 33k admissions at this point which points to another ~13k admissions today getting Monday to nearly 70k. However it might go higher since Sunday evenings will probably be proportionally weaker than Mondays.

CGV at 25k it should add, 2k, 2k, 1k, 1k, 0k, 1k for a total of 32k vs the 30k of last monday. 7k would be 1 / 3.571 of the current total. Adding that on top of the current total would give 72.6k for today.  Anyway last week on tuesday it did 68.5k with 31k CGV, with current ratio it's looking to beat that. What will be interesting is if it will drop tomorrow as we would normaly expect or is the movie still gaining momentum.

Okay that's very good then. The CGV ratio seems lower this week (I think because Elemental gained 70 screens from last Monday, probably from different chains). At 17:25 the admissions will be somewhere around 57.5k-58k so a 25k CGV points to a 43% ratio. 32k final CGV = 74.4k final today, higher than every weekday last week again excluding Culture Day!

19:00 - 66,800 (+10.1k)

Just wow. Now running at 58% of Sundays two hour period, if it continues at this pace it will add another 9.6k and finish at 76.2k. The CGV ratio must be closer to 42% since it reached 27k at 18:25 and a 43% ratio would mean it had 4k admissions in 35 minutes which is way too high while 42% would mean it had 2.5k which seems just right.

32k CGV finish as @pepsa said with a 42% ratio also lands it right at 76.2k.

That would be very nice, would mean an increase over last thursday! Would also be higher than the 74k I noted down in google sheet yesterday, would be a very nice number

21:25 - 32k CGV (probably closer to 31.5k before rounding since that would be a very big increase otherwise)

76-77k final looking good.

CGV at 33K and 77K+. Fantastic Monday!!! We can put to bed that, movie is slowing down with this hold!!!

For that we would need to see it increasing day over day, or atleast thursday over thursday! Cause if it start dropping on weekdays (don't think it wil yet) it will be slowing down. Anyway monday over thursday is a great indicator it's still gaining momentum. PS are on pace to match / exede last ones as well so still pointing to atleast a flat weekend.

I won't worry much but it's now upto screens/shows -

MI6 did 3.23M admits from WED~SUN OW

https://www.hapskorea.com/mission-impossible-fallout-tops-korean-box-office-with-66-of-tickets-sold-over-the-weekend/

Given with MI7 strong PS I think 3.5-4M admits Wed~Sun is possible

A 3-4m opening no matter how you slice will impact it for sure, can't see it dropping less than 30% when MI openes to that level.

As for CGV I am hoping 11k today.

Impact will be there for sure especially screen count but it should be greater for other movies like Roundup, ATSV and Indy. Elemental can act hopefully as counter programming to MI7.
