Rsyu
Seems like a very good move and gives me something to do on ThursdayIt's a good move for planet of the apes since TF4 will already be in it's 3rd week by then and it will avoid competing against Kundo right from day 1. From the perspective of other films opening around then though it's pretty sly to say the least and there is a lot of eyebrows raised about the leeway big distribution companies seem to be getting in regards to changing their release date last minute. The same thing happened when masquerade Was released I might add. Of course planet is now set up to tear into TF4's legs in a similar way that HP2 cut into TF3's. Rsyu
Is that good or bad? Good for apes, fox specifically manoeuvred this situation to get a better release date. Bad news for TF4 and also the films (mostly local) that are scheduled to be released on the tenth. Edited July 4, 2014 by Rsyu

Fullbuster
Apes 2 should gross much more than the first one in SK given how loved the first one is.I'm getting excited,I saw every Planet of the Apes movies and globally I loved them. I'm just sad the movie from 2001 could not have a sequel given the exciting end. Edited July 4, 2014 by Fullbuster

You're right it should and under normal circumstances it probably would have but this month and august after it is looking increasingly crowded. I guess we'll see Like you, I can't wait to see planet of the apes sequel. It's one of my most anticipated films of the year too. Hopefully it won't disappoint!

Rsyu
Last minute changes don't work....usually. If the last minute change was forced then yeah you'd probably be right. In this case it's unlikely that fox was forced to change, rather they looked at the release schedules for July and saw that many of the big releases (Kundo, HTTYD2, GotG and roaring currents) all come within two weeks of planet of the apes release and then decided to open a week earlier. I think it was a wise decision,TF4 is quite disappointing in SK,they see an opportunity there to benefit from this weakness.

Rsyu
<Transformers: Age of Extinction> crosses 4 million admissions today after 12 days of release. It is the fastest record of any film this calendar year outpacing 10 million admissions film <Frozen> (15 days) as well as <Days of Future Past> (20 days), <Edge of Tomorrow> (21 days) and <The amazing spider-man 2> (22 days). Some other 2014 records broken by TF4 include: -Fastest to 1 million (3 days) -Fastest to 2 million (5 days) -Fastest to 3 million (8 days) -Biggest Opening day (467,414 admissions) -Biggest single day (793,470 admissions) -Biggest opening week (2,639,776 admissions) -Highest presales (88.7%) However the margin of difference between TF4 and TF3 continue to increase. During the same time period TF3 amassed 5.91 million admissions and $54.62 million gross. It also lags behind TF2 which had 5.2 million admissions and $27 million gross by the end of it's second week. The low gross of TF2 is due in large part to the absence of 3D and low ratio of IMAX screens. If TF2 had 3D screens, TF4 would have decreased from it in gross also. In admissions it lags behind even TF1 which managed 4.27 million admissions by it's second week.
