Lets see if I can rundown the casting news of this movie. Lets start with the most recent, Cooper was up for one of the two lead roles but had to drop due to scheduling conflicts. I don't think this was a big concern like they are making it to be. Paradise Lost starts filming in January for 2 months and goes to post and U.N.C.L.E. would start in March.Edgerton is being offered the role of the Russian spy which was once offered to Joel Kinnaman but had to drop due to his Arthur & Lancelot role. Damon was then offered the role. What might prevent Edgerton from this movie is 300:BoA which is looking for a 2013 release, but with no start date set. So if he gets the 300 role and that is for July/August everything should be fine.Fassbender (Soderbergh's choice) was also a candidate for a role in the movie as more many other actors including Clooney. Also Depp read for the role at one point. After all this it was thought by WB that Cooper and Edgerton would have the roles.Imogen Poots and Emily Blunt are wanted for the female lead.

Tom Cruise No Longer ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ as Production Makes Necessary Adjustments

http://thefilmstage.com/news/tom-cruise-no-longer-the-man-from-u-n-c-l-e-as-production-makes-necessary-adjustments/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

He has a packed schedule and, within said schedule, at least two other franchise commitments — so did anybody really think this was going to hold together? As it always seemed odd that Tom Cruise would hedge his bets on a Guy Ritchie-directed The Man from U.N.C.L.E., we can almost entirely summarize this with “well, sure”: per Deadline, the actor has opted out of the title in favor of that other based-on-a-’60s-TV show feature, Mission: Impossible V.

Tom Cruise was a bad fit for this role. This role is more suited for someone with a more rugged personality like Bale or Fassbender.

And maybe someone taller.

Could Hemsworth take the role or he is too busy?
