I don't know about that. It is a spy film. Plus most movies these days tend to be pretty expensive.

 

WB obviously wants to start another franchise, so I doubt they would exactly be pleased with Green Hornet numbers (barely breaking even).

This isn't a bad release date. December would've worked if they still had Tom Cruise attached to this movie. They already have Hobbit 3 and my guess is that they will schedule an Oscar movie in the Christmas slot as well.

The movie has been moved out of the death slot thanks to American Sniper, it moves to August 14, 2015. Exactly one year from this weekend

Considering it's already in the can, its a long time. August has seen success this year with Guardians and TMNT although I think August 7th may have been better since Goosebumps and Straight Outta Compton are already scheduled there

That's not a better date though. Mid-August is when everyone is completely exhausted after the summer season and a movie has done really well if it opens with $25 million.
