thank you.please, bear in mind these are pure speculations. unfortunatelly, we do not have coherent information about financial background of film industry. i know, trade press constantly writes about flops/bombs/success based on box office information, but this is not accurate.one thing i have forgoten to count was back end compensation. acording to forbes(http://www.therichest.org/entertainment/vanityfairtop-40-highest-paid-stars-in-hollywood/), nolan has received almost 70M as back end compensation from theater recipes, dvd sales and tv licensing from inception. leonardo di caprio about 60M. and there are other gross players too (remaing cast and producers). tim burton has received 50M from alice in wonderland and johny depp about 40M, so it is safe to assume films which earns about 1B in box office bring more than 100 in backend compensation. maybe it is close to 200M. (j.cameron got 250M from avatar) another expenses, which are not low at all.
