zackzack
OBLIVION has AVATAR-like plot. Plus the love story may appeal to teens. This could be a surprise in China

OBLIVION was just so so in the whole asian area. It will suffer from SO YOUNG and IM3 , both of them will pass ¥500M(maybe much more ). So ¥250M is good enough for OBLIVION in China

A Marvel Fanboy
True. $50M is already decent enough comparing with its performance in rest markets. CROODS opening on Saturday, should do at least $15M total with a $5M two days opening.
juni78ukr
Currently the best markets for G.I.Joe 2 are Russia (14.7 mln) and Mexico (13.4 mln). Nothing is wrong with 50 mln in China.

A Marvel Fanboy
Now I really think CROODS (opening on Sat, 4.20) can do pretty well here (for an original animation film). The marketing for it is efficient and the buzz is there. Sure, a Saturday opening is not as good as a Friday opening, and next week is full of working days, but then it gets the May holiday week when 5 of the 7 days will be holidays, a big boost to come, especially it being the only family movie playing in theaters. I see 30M $3.2M two days opening, 40M next week and then 60M holiday week, following by some 30M late run. That is to say, it actually has a shot at 160M+ ($26M) total gross. Even 200M yuan is doable. Edited April 19, 2013 by firedeep
POLYLOVE
I wont rule May 3 out .... IM3's release date is totally messed up. This only happens in China. Speechless....

A Marvel Fanboy
Damn, do you think it can hit $100M? It is 20th now yet the release date is still unsettled. I dont know but probably I'll go to an "early" screening on 23th night, the only screening in China before it opens..
