Journey to the West 2 starts filming today. Cast lineup: Kris Wu (also in Stephen Chow's The Mermaid) as the monk. Lin Gengxin (was in Tsui Hark's Taking of the Tiger Mountain) as Monkey King. Yao Chen seems to be in the movie too. Directed by Tsui Hark and produced by Stephen Chow. Set to release in Lunar New Year 2017.

It seems The Lost Tomb is getting a movie adaptation with more fresh meats on the cast. Looks like we'll be seeing this group of little fresh meats more and more since they're quickly gaining box office appeal.

 

I came across the trailer for Guan Hu's Mr Six (formerly called Fading Wave) and it looks promising. It's going to be Huayi's major film for the holidays so it's bound to do well especially with Feng Xiaogang as lead.

Looks like it mite hold flat today. I assume MH has got be getting some press for passing 2B and TF4 plus consecutive days at #1.  I could see it holding well next weekend with some WOM kicking in. The numbers will be small enough that it wont need a lot of theater.s Even if the new release is massive it could still score 20M+ next Saturday. I doubt it drops 50-60%. TMK bumped its second weekend even though  MH and JB had massive openings. 3 scenarios below starting from Thursday. Maintains 40% drops, or does 50% 0r 60%.

I see the floor at 2250 if dumps. 2300 if it fades at 50%. 2350 to breaking FF7 if it holds course.

It should. 1.5B would be great result but far from lock. Sep is one of the slowest month. (the increases for MI5 over MI4 in other markets don't look too great)
