yes. its amazing that its happening at the same week deadpool domestic went cray as well !!!

 

at 230 its at 215m. its adding 11-12m every update(30m). at this rate even if it slows down big time after 6PM it would be close to 300m. I am surprised theaters in china dont switch shows based on demand.

Even if it does 120-125M, it would stay on track.

How are the drops for TMK2 and Macau 3 today? Did they benefit from Valentine's day?

yes. both of them should increase from yesterday as well. hard to extrapolate how much if we dont know how they will behave in the evening. their show count is lower than yesterday.

I think both would remain relatively flat....maybe 5% jump.

MK2 is at 75% of yesterday already(20m behind). could be that they crawl in the evening. Macau 3 is at 70%(22m behind) and could stay flat or barely increase.

Last year the holiday ended on a tuesday. We'd drop wad just 30% and it held thru sunday. Monday drop is going to be more than 50% from Saturdays numbers for total BO. Pre-sales at 16m total now. Will more than double and there should be a 4 to 5 multi. Less than 200m total likely. 

Mermaid should maintain its 50% MS. 

Panda should hold better than the market.

Looking at maoyan, it appears only 185K shows are listed though actual show count total will be 215k. Is the BO also completely tracked or some of the theaters report later. Then the actual number could be even bigger :-)

Maoyan just estimate (realtime) box office numbers based on ticket sellings on their own platform (since Maoyan is the biggest movie ticket booking platform in China, many people use their box office tools). So sometimes they could be very off. CBOOO estimate box office numbers based on tickets sold that they (Entgroup) can track (Entgroup is the biggest Chinese entertainment intelligence database). Cbooo update actuals on the following day (by 'actuals', meaning box office data that has been reported by theaters).

 

This site http://111.205.151.7/movies/0 (which is operated by China's official box office tracking agency) it updates actuals at 9:30pm. The problem is, by 930pm, not all theaters have reported. The actuals when all theaters have reported usually is 5% bigger than what 111.205.151.7 shows at 930pm. It could take days or even weeks for some individual theaters to complete the report.

By the way, daily box office (total) in China means box offie that is produced between 06:00am and 06:00am. For individual movies, it depends on how you count it.

40%? sunday BO is already at 550M. it will finish around 600m. 40% would take monday BO to 350m. I am thinking 50% drop for around 300m.

Sunday right around 300m. average price went up 1 rmb to 38 rmb.
