Lordmandeep
lol when some of us a week ago were saying 60-80 million total, it will that much in a week. This is great news, perhaps it could have blown up to 150 + million but nevertheless a fantastic result for Iron Man 3. Its about 90-100 + million gain from Iron man 2. POLYLOVE
Today IM3's box office is higher than SY's OD, which means IM3 is more powerful than SY. But unlike SY no more holidays boost waiting for IM3 any more, so...it will all depend on legs.
A Marvel Fanboy
In the People’s Republic Of China the official numbers which local distributor DMG Entertainment is reporting forIron Man 3 midnight and opening day results (as of closing day May 2nd) is $18,657,142 USD (SARFT/CFG, or 117,540,000 RMB). This breaks all opening day records for any film ever shown there. But this number also is not final as there are still outstanding cinemas which have not reported their box office earnings. So the estimated final opening day box office is actually $21.5M. Special scenes were reserved for Chinese distribution by the film’s co-producers there, Marvel and DMG Entertainment. Key China milestones include the biggest midnight screening (over 13,400,000 RMB), the biggest number of midnight screenings (over 2,500), the biggest number of opening day screenings (over 33,000), the biggest number of opening day screens (over 6,000). Iron Man 3 also shattered IMAX one-day records in China where pic grossed an incredible $1.834M on 101 screens, besting the previous IMAX record (Titanic 3D) by 30%. From DHD: ‘Iron Man 3′: $21.5M In China Breaks All Opening Day Records, $263.6M International Total Without May Day Yet, U.S./Canada $165M-$180M Debut Expected This WeekendDeadline, or THR, or BO, whatever, they just report what they get. I know where all these numbers come from ... (The numbers doesnt need to be confirmed by Disney. They confirm nothing ....) DMG said on Thursday [May 2] the official SARFT/CFG opening day number came to $18.7m or 117.5m RMB, which Disney said would rise to $21.5m including cinemas that have not reported. IM3 sets new China record See ? This is the problem of Disney. They are conflicting with DMG over IM3 OD numbers. DMG reports 117M yuan, which is the actuals from SARFT/Special Funds. Disney saw an early 130M number and took it as real .... The 121M yuan we reported was based on Special Funds numbers, which already factored-in some so-called outstanding theaters. So after the release date conflict, the box office one has begun ...

Heretic
Yep, the trailer is misleading. I'm so happy it was misleading. If it'd been like the trailer, it would have been like IM2.
