A Marvel Fanboy
I think there are two main factors in charge of no increase on Friday: overally weak WOM (rating dropped to 6.3 on douban.com); Hotel Transylvania and two other small films opened. 11-10-15-13 seems to be the good projection. 11.2 - 10.5 - 16 - 13. Pretty much 50m OW. The big problem is next week there are Escape Plan and Thor 2 and 9 local films.... 100M yuan total is stil the target though. Estimates puts Hotel Transylvania OD at 7m, good considering the one year delay. Edited November 1, 2013 by firedeep
Bob Violence
Is RUSH opening against THOR 2 in China? That seems pretty unlikely this late in the game. Rush doesn't have a date yet and TDW is less than a week away now. There have been cases of imports getting a release date just a couple of days in advance (like IM3), but those are pretty exceptional. Plus opening another import next week could do more damage to all the new local openers, which will already have enough trouble going against Escape Plan and TDW (not to mention each other). Ouch. I guess this will hurt Escape Plan. Any idea what to expect from China for EP? $20 million total would be great... zackzack
Wow, kinda slow at the box office. Why can't China release THOR at this slot? It's perfect. WOLVERINE is slowing down already

A Marvel Fanboy
Wow, kinda slow at the box office. Why can't China release THOR at this slot? It's perfect. WOLVERINE is slowing down already You are absolutely right about "slow" ... At 52M, Starlingrad will be the lowest grossing weekly champion of 2013, [lower than former record-holder Smurfs 2 with 61M in week 37] ... overally week 44 looks to be slightly over 240M ... that's even lower than last week's 250M ... which means this week (week 44) will be the second slowest week of 2013, with per show attendance through Mon-Wed lowing down to merely 9, just a little ahead of week 23 with 233M. Week 37 and week 39 also totaled less than 255M though. The same week in 2012 (wk 44) did 220M. As for why not release Thor 2 this week ... Sarft/CFC should be the answer, as always.
