If you are not a fan of any cast, I doubt no one wants to watch Chinese movie. Jackie Chan is still the most well-known Chinese actor outside of China. I doubt fan will care much about the rating. Good or bad, his scene still makes everyone laugh tbh.  

 

Just forget how bad it is, let just talking about its box office performance. Most of your comments sound so negative toward KFY tbh. The film is not the only bad CNY released, even the record-breaking JTTW2 didn't have good rating too.     

 

 

Ip Man 3 broke Asian Films box office records in many parts of Asia. =)

Yes, technically. 
But around 70m USD in China alone, that's more than 10% of the total overseas gross! The drop from TFA is less than a lot of people though. Performance is not bad i would say, and remember the exchange rate differential when TFA was released and when R1 was released.

I would say casting Donnie and Jiang Wen definitely saved it, or else this spinoff will be looking at a 50m USD in China at most.

I think KFY could leg out JTTW2 depending on hard hit by XXX. Both over 1.6B. Maybe KFY clears 1.7b?
